Where now for Everton? 8:47pm on 26 Nov 2009 Tranmere is a bit further away as the crow flies.

Can I just point out that the stadium failed on a few planning points, this has been glossed over for some reason. From a fan's point of view, it failed on providing sustainable transport as was pointed out by fans many times.

No rush for Rodwell move 2:15pm on 19 Nov 2009 It depends what the £20million received would be for Phil. If it was to go towards a legacy i.e. purchase Finch Farm then I would be happy to see the board accept it. If it was to be wasted on player's wages then I wouldn't be so keen.
No rush for Rodwell move 1:34pm on 19 Nov 2009 Everton took out a loan from a company Investec recently. It was arranged by Teachers Stern (the company who deals with Kia_Joorabchian). Some people (including myself) believe that this is secured against Jack Rodwell's sale value. Officially it is secured against the "Basic Award" (TV Money) for the 2010/11 season.

In the past we've sold Jeffers, Ball, McCann and Rooney to help balance the books. As much as I would like to see Rodwell stay at Everton. I can't see it happening. I expect Rodwell to be sold - possibly as early as January.

I don't know why you are suggesting it will end in March 09 - it clearly won't.
Everton on verge of sale 5:46pm on 10 Oct 2008 If he sells then it would be excellent news for Everton and an excellent bit of business for Mr. Bill Kenwright who bought the club in 1999 for less than £25million and money owed to creditors rising from £20million to £90million.

Good riddance Mr Kenwright, you have been holding the club back and should have gone when Paul Gregg tried to buy your shares. Bill Kenwright made poor decisions (signing players based on money that never came from NTL, allowing Kings Dock to fall out of the clubs grasp because he didn't want Paul Gregg to own the stadium, hiring Keith 'no plan B' Wyness of Kirkby fame.. enough said.)

This will be one ecstatic supporter when Mr Kenwright finally departs our once-proud club...

Let's not forget that he's had a contract on the table for months with £30,000 more per week. He didn't sign it and it can't be back dated.

It's because the station is so inadequate for a stadium's needs that the club are saying they will put on buses to collect fans from their hometowns - in some cases outside a railway station..

Firstly, you are comparing Horwich parkway to Kirkby station. Horwich parkway actually has two platforms compared to Kirkby's one.

Despite what one of the above posters said, Kirkby station will not be getting an upgrade on the back of the stadium. Merseyrail have already said there is no business case for spending millions on a 24 days of usage a year.

Let's not forget that the Reebok Stadium was originally to be a 40,000 capacity stadium but it had to be downgraded because the transport wasn't available.

Old Trafford has it's own railway station which also has 2 platforms with less than 2 miles to travel to Manchester city centre. It also has another metrolink station.

The trains to Kirkby will travel 7 miles from Liverpool City centre and will still be picking up fans on route because of the location of the stadium. It's simply not a good transport plan.

I'm fully aware that the 50,401 fans will not be travelling via train, Kirkby apparently serves up to 3,000 per hour. That's less than 0.6% of the attendance getting onto a train in the first hour, that's shocking no matter how you try and spin it.

The problem with being at a terminal is that all stations go in the same direction, the fans would be on the same platform waiting for the same train where as at Kirkdale there are two directions which the fans can travel.

The reason a lot of people don't go to the match is because Everton have a lot of walk-up support. By moving to Kirkby they are pretty much forcing the fans to drive up there or find another method of going.
