Yup - I saw him interviewed on TV talking about how he all of a sudden 'gets' Neil Young. He told this to Young - he didn't seem to care either way. :-)

I'm Mandy Fly Me - 10CC
I've never been a big 10CC fan despite their undoubted success in terms of the big hits that everyone knows and loves, but come on! Their 'concept' stuff simultaneously sucks and blows - surely one of the most overrated bands! This is a great track though - a guilty pleasure!

Heart Of Gold - Neil Young
Sorry - I just don't 'get' Neil Young - never have. The man simply cannot sing. I've seen him live and that was indeed entertaining, but I'm never going to rush out and buy anything by him. Apart from this... :-)

Shine - Take That
I agree with CaptRamius - the Take That boys do know how to pen a hit, but for me it's all much of a muchness - bit too formulaic for me, plus their lyrics often suck big time! Shine stands out a bit for me, though, as one of those diamonds in the rough.

Acceptable In The 80's - Calvin Harris
I can't stand Calvin Harris, but I do like this song - the irony about the whole thing is just brilliant. Listen to the words closely... ;-)

Barbie Girl - Aqua
Again, I really have no time at all for this band, but this song stands head and shoulders above everything else they have done and will ever do! It has an excellent pop hook and once again has a massive amount of irony about it. Check out all the things that young Barbie can 'do'...

You Take Me Up - Thompson Twins
One of the most uplifting tracks from THE most boring 80's pop act.

Black Horse And The Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
Emperor's new clothes here. She's done a couple of songs I like, but now seems to have fallen into 'lazy mode' and is repeating herself. Perhaps she'll do some more great stuff but so far this is the one I like!

Warwick Avenue - Duffy (aptly-named...)
Can't stand Duffy - no-voice nasal noise. But... this is such a great song that even she can't mess it up (she tries pretty hard).

Life For Rent - Dido
More emperor's new clothes, I'm afraid. Shot to fame after Eminem gave her a 'puddy up'. She can't sing and was lucky not to still be a pub singer. However, the highly emotional lyrics in Life For Rent get me every time. Great track, despite the dodgy unaccompanied vocal at the end!

Yup, the last time I set up a videoconferencing system the same thing happened except everyone elected to wear bras over their heads. Oh, the fun of it. :-)
