Strong line up for Sports Personality 5:10pm on 07 Dec 2009 Does anyone know what the criteria were for the papers used to determine the shortlist.

I don't want to come across as some whining woman but I work with amateur female sports people every day and they're always moaning about how poorly women in sport are represented.

Why does Zoo magazine get a vote? I'm sure they have a great sports section but I'm also sure they sell magazines targeted at men.
I live in the real world and sports coverage is dominated by men. But at least lets try to maintain a semblance of equality but at least only including publications which aren't quite so openly targeted at one sex.

I agree that audiences for the paralympics will not necessarily be as high as for the olympics but there are still some relatively straightforward things that the beeb could do to improve it's coverage.

Over the olympics you could chose video feeds via the red button - if everything was already set up from the olympics surely this could be continued for the paralympics.

The biggest frustration is the website because, while it may be "the best coverage ever" it's ridiculously hard to find infomation. The schedule pages are formatted really badly. The medal table isn't on the front page as it was for the olympics.

I hardly ever watch TV as I tend to be busy during "prime-time" so I had got use to the really good coverage online of the olympics - with live text for each day, feeds and lots of information. I assumed the coverage would be the same for the paralympics and they'd use the same format online so i was disappointed when I came to check it out. Even simply moving Paralympics higher up the side bar would help!
Goodbye plastic (for now) 5:31pm on 01 Aug 2008 Medical plastic isn't really the point though. I don't think anyone's arguing about the use of plastic in medicine. It's the everyday plastics that build up and can be reduced without really affecting our lives that much that are the most important to reduce first. Think this is a great idea - obviously not likely to change corporations or governments but just as an experiment to make a point and make people think.

Also - this is not really the place for a debate about homeopathy efficacy but any serious illness should be treated via you GP rather than using homeopathy
Dose of long jump joy relieves Chambers headache 10:04am on 14 Jul 2008 Well, FWIW I think he should not be allowed to go to the olympics. I'm quite proud that the BOA have taken a stand against drug cheats.

That being said I think that the legal likelihood is that Chambers will get the ban overturned.

In that case i expect the BOA will try to reinstate the ban on a stronger legal footing (although Chambers would be able to run...).

I can't help thinking this whole saga is doing much more for lawyers and journalists than it is for sport.
