Ancelotti ready for Man Utd challenge 11:38pm on 07 Nov 2009 Its naive to say that the title is Arsenal's to lose, we're only 12 games in. I'm pretty sure that at 12 games last season, Utd were rotting somewhere in the bottom half of the table and they came back to win it.

This season has seen all the big clubs (and I extend that to include Spurs, City, Villa and possibly Sunderland) have lost silly points, the end result being that the league is more competitive and less predictable.

#6 - Gavin Strachan was released by Notts County at the end of last season and I dont think he has found another team yet, so maybe thats why he isnt posting at the moment.
Not so Big Four 3:26pm on 21 Oct 2009 #456 - To be fair to Rafa and Liverpool, it is all about Gerrard and Torres. Liverpool relied very heavily last season on the goalscoring ability of Torres and the creativity of Gerrard, as well as the tacking of Mascherano and the passing ability of Alonso.

Even when Torres and Gerrard were out last season they could still count on Alonso and Mascherano policing the back four and hope they got a long punt upfront to one of the 'squad' which usually led to a dodgy 1-0 win. Without Alonso Liverpool just dont have a reliable system, irregardless of the presense of Gerrard and Torres.

Would like to hope Aquilana will sort it out for you, because he does look promising, but as someone pointed out earlier, he is about as injury prone as Michael Owen, i doubt it.

As for the top four this season
1. Chelsea and United to fight it out for top two, decided on final day of season.
2. Arsenal/Liverpool/Man City/Tottenham/Sunderland/Villa fighting it out for 3rd to 7th. Wouldnt be that surprised if Arsenal and Liverpool ended up playing in the Europa League next season at the expense of Spurs and City

dont quote me on this but im pretty sure Bent is in the top five goalscorers, even if ya take the beachball goal away.

Dunno whether he'll make the plane but think Capello would be crazy to leave him at home if he is still in the top five come May

as a city fan i dont see why we're still chasing after Lescott. that said, ive got a horrible feeling Moyes is gunna turn round any day now and say 'fine, £20 million and were taking onuoha'. what a shame that would be.

The stuff with SAF and the Tevez poster in Manchester City Centre is pretty funny, seeing as we (City) put the poster up like 2 days after we signed him, while United were still in Manchester, and its took SAF how long to comment...

It might also be a dig at the fact that Man United arent actually based in Manchester, they are based in Trafford. Every Traffordian I know flips when i say they are a Manc, Ive been beaten before until I agree that they are infact from Trafford not Manchester.

but saying that, I do agree with SAF, we are a small club and will continue to be a small club until we actually win something.

To LS (post number 69) above me, this isnt a football column, its a column that delivers a 'commoners' views on all British sport, it just so happens that there isnt that much football going on at the moment, making it quite difficult to talk about it in detail.

Orwellthedog, Robbo has said many a time before that Ronaldo is a good player. There are very few fans or armchair managers alike that would say Ronaldo isnt. Personally, he is the moost complete and therefore best player in the world for me, and Im a City fan.

However, Robbo, like every non Man United fan, cant stand Ronaldo when he does play. The skills are impressive, him spending 80 minutes on his ass cus a bigger boy defender got within 5 foot of him every game is not.

Kind of a shame Zidane doesnt play anymore, would of been hilarious to watch him nut Ronaldo one in training.

One of the lucky ones 10:58pm on 14 May 2009 I assume someone has already said this but I will as well. For those who are slating Gav for stating that 9.30-4.30 is intense...I think he means the work itself rather than the length of time working.

I would guess that 7 hours of mentally and physically straining activities would trump 8 or more hours in an office or shop or mcdonalds where the work is primarily monotonous(sp?) and straight-forward.

Wonder how many times I'll get flamed for that...
