Express your inner Geek 12:49pm on 14 Aug 2008 I think it would be ace if they had a copy of ms office 2008 on like a hundred floppy discs.
Origional gameboy with Tetris would be hilarious.
The new series is going to be amazing!
No defence for 'stealing' music 1:25pm on 09 Jul 2008 I think that by far the best approch to this (although I think tyring to stop the number of people doing this is ludicrus!) is softly softly.
If they carry on with their all guns blazing approch they will drive people into creating and using more and more illegal software, bypassing the security messures. It will become a game of security cat and mouse!

They will find a new way of doing things and be stopped, again and again!

Although companies like apple and napster arn't exactly helping the cause are they? What with taking the format and copy protections off music files download from their services!

I think the whole idea of trying to stop everyone using illegal download file share sites and services is LAUGHABLE!!!

Lost in the cloud 1:17pm on 09 Jul 2008 Another solution, although not online, would be to simply buy a USB stick. I remember the first one I bought was a good few years ago, with just 128MB memory at £19.99 I thought it a bargain at the time.
But things have seriously moved on since then I have several 1 and 2GB sticks which cost me no more than £15 each, and will hold more documents than I'll ever have.
And I find with a stick that small I can just stick it in my pocket, or wallet, or anywhere else and just go.
That way I don't have to be connected to the net to access documents, and is a hell of a lot quicker to just stick it in the drive, and open the documents, than sign into google docs and download them again!
Just another option...
Avatars a go-go 1:07pm on 09 Jul 2008 I think its going to be really strange when all this becomes hugly popular, as many people are aready used to 3d online avatars... take MMORPGs for example.
Already millions of people worldwide play games such as World of Warcraft. Before virtual reality was solely for the computer nerds and geeks (myself included), but now this is all becoming very mainstream!
It reminds me of the social network boom. One day the only people with personal sites were geeks who coded thier own (myself included), or paid a geek to do it for them.
When all of a sudden one day everyone had a My Space or Facebook or Bebo page. Giving everyone their own little corner of the web.
I think this shows brilliently how when a new technology comes out (like virtual reality online) first of all it is very confined, held with in select social groups, developing and getting better all the time; when all of a sudden.... BANG!!!
Everyone has it and it changes from something seen as "nerdy" or "wierd" to a mainstrean norm in society.
All very strange....
iPhone 'sellout': Deliberate ploy? 1:03pm on 08 Jul 2008 I think that O2 should already be ashamed of themselves!!!
I live on the Isle of Man, and the main telecom over here is a company called Manx Telecom. They are a sister company of O2 and they were selling the original iPhone in stores, if asked if it would work with manx telecom network they said ask O2, people did and O2 said "yes". What they didn't tell people was that you had to get it unlocked and once you did it would work as a phone; but upon plugging it back into your PC or Mac it would auto-update and lock back to O2. This isn't just bad marketing, its blatent lieing to customers! I think this shows exactly why these kind of partnerships are a bad idea. So even if you didn't manage to get a hold of the iPhone 3G, I would reconsider getting it! It is a hybred somewhere between a sony walkmen, and a blackberry, and is not as good a either!!! I would seriously look at a blackberry pearl over an iPhone, its cheaper, works better, and will work on any network now + the new one can be pay-as-you-go. This whole iPhone affair has been just another reason for me to loath apple, and now O2 aswell
Watching you, watching YouTube 1:35pm on 07 Jul 2008 I personnally am not too worried about my data trail, but I know many people who are!
And despite me not being worried I have a point to make about the internet, ITS ENTIRLY OPEN!!!
I think it is rediculus that people can and will be scrutinised by companies about what they do in their free time, on the internet!
I think this decision will just push more people to use software to mask their IP addresses and cut down on data trails, this software will become more openly available and it will lead to a sharp rise in real internet crime, not just someone watching a few naughty videos!
PS3 owners delight at XMB 1:28pm on 02 Jul 2008 Of course all of Sony's most recent PS3 ideas are based on those of Microsofts Xbox 360. Alothugh the PS3 is a, by far, supperier platform (in terms of hardware and potential) the Xbox continues to outsell it simply because of it's software features and technical ideas. So does this spell the end for the Xbox, I think not, it still has thousends of loyal customers, and even if the PS3 becomes both supperier in hardware and software, microsoft will still continue to excell at gaining the most lucrative game licencises, excusivly on their console. So there is yet another chalenge waiting for Sony. Good luck! (You'll need it!)
DRM is dead, long live DRM 1:23pm on 02 Jul 2008 I personally believe that in order for systems such as iTunes and Napster to survive they will have to make all of there music DRM-free. They will have to offer a level of service so far unseen to their user, in order to stop them simply swicking over to illegal downloads, which are becoming easier to obtain, and with no foreseeable stop to their posting. And I say "all the better". If the service of iTunes increase then not only will they benifit, but more importantly so will the customers, the really important people in the business!
