Politicians, the press and the police 10:12am on 10 Jul 2009 I have seen this question raised elsewhere but without any responses:
On what grounds could Cameron sack Coulson?
Surely no trade union rep. would sanction the arbitrary dismissal of an employee? If Yates of the Yard starts an investigation and Coulson is charged then we have a totally different situation.
Does innocent until proven guilty only apply to Labour Party members and apparatchiks?
Chancellor in distress 10:06pm on 01 Jun 2009 I would have felt a certain sympathy for anyone who took over Number 11 after Brown. You don't need an IQ in three figures to realise that Brown would keep calling the financial shots. There was no way Brown would allow his Chancellor the freedom Blair had permitted. The result is the Brown continued to screw up No 11 whilst doing a similar job in No 10. Brown is the problem not the solution at any level.

Is that the best NL supporters can come up with? Where is the robust defence of Brown and governmental actions and policies? Could it because there are none?

The Speaker did not know the Police did not have a warrant. Did he not think to ask?

The Serjeant at Arms signed a consent form without 1) asking to see a warrant and/or 2) referring to her boss for advice. (Whether or not the Police misled or lied to the Serjeant at Arms is another issue.) Ms Jill Pay probably needs to consider her position. She may have only been in post since January but beforehand she was the Assistant Serjeant at Arms from September 2004. Surely she must have picked up the “rules of the game” before her promotion?

Nostalgic reminder 12:16pm on 03 Dec 2008 #47 - I am rather surprised that my post has "referred to the moderators". I thought it rather well balanced. Perhaps the moderators could actually look at it now.
In retreat 2:06pm on 02 Dec 2008 Ideally Whitehall would be watertight. However, reality is that can leak like a sieve and it is in the interest of politicians, both in and out of government, that it does so. Any civil servant or official who decides to leak information, no matter how noble or ignoble the justification, know the risks that they may face. To that end Mr Galley has leaked and got caught. What is different this time is that the recipient has also been targeted. The prospect of any Member of Parliament being prosecuted for receiving any “sensitive” material is disturbing.
