Yo Suckers! I'm on Linux and no no stin'kin maleware or viruses attack me. Nah Nah...

No sure about all those Linux netbooks though. Don't some of the default user accounts run with elevated privilege?
Is your granny a gamer? 2:48pm on 03 Nov 2008 And how many pensioners are having internet sex? That would make a good headline...
Is blogging dead? 8:57pm on 22 Oct 2008 Even for an amateur like me blogging is a useful way to put down my longer thoughts and useful pieces of information. It's proved valuable in three ways:

1) It's a handy location for me to put detailed notes that I can look up later

2) Other people have also found my notes useful because they leave me nice comments; and I assume for every comment there must be another 5-10 who also found it useful.

3) A customer once told me that they checked out my block before giving me a contract (the address is on the back of my business card)

The number of daily readers rarely goes above 100, but it's enough to keep me motivated.

Twitter (et al) is something different -- I just like to keep in tough and feel more connected, plus not miss any of Rory's blog posts of course.

Technology - the party really is over 3:17pm on 08 Oct 2008 An interesting question may be how much new technology (e.g. social networking etc) contributed to the melt down by spreading panic and lack of confidence....

Bye-bye Bill 12:22pm on 30 Jun 2008 I started in IT in 1980 so I've seen the whole cycle of BIll's Microsoft career.

BIll was a hero of mine, until the Stac debacle. Then it was downhill -- the quality of the software (Windows, Visual Studio, etc) declined and evidence of bad business practices increased.

I'm now active in Open Source and UNIX and loving it, so thanks Bill.
