The future of audio: the UK Radioplayer 01:11am on 20 Nov 2009 That's interesting. Can someone at BBC towers explain the difference between UKRadioPlayer and initiatives like Canvas and Kangaroo which the Trust, Oh blessed be it's infinite wisdom, and the commercial competition got chopped. On what basis was agreement between the various broadcaster's achieved for UKRadioPlayer to get the go-ahead.

Ironic! On the one hand you seem to be closing down opportunities for users to comment. (It would be nice if I could provide comments on Radio 5, but every avenue that used to be open for such comments has been systematically closed.) And yet you claim you want users contributions to part of Online's future. One of these is obviously false, which?

As for what should be on the technology news pages, surely it should be NEWS about TECHNOLOGY, this isn't rocket science surely...No sorry this could indeed be rocket science.

How about an investigation into why the BBC persistently promotes a commercial organisation, product placement, I believe it's called, in what appears to a be a violation of it's charter. 7 articles from 22 mentioned Twitter in July.

Do the BBC have shares in twitter?

Get a grip please. There are technology subjects out there that are nothing to do with Twitter, why don't you try covering them for a change.

I was trying, in vain, to make this a discussion about what future operating systems might provide rather than a flame war. You know stuff like application portability, security, usability, the ability of novice, and not so novice users to configure it correctly; About removing the need to spend half my life keeping AV and firewall software up to date, about cross system hardware support; The ability to support open document formats, not just on Office applications, but on ALL applications; eMail systems which are designed to prevent SPAM. Increased software reliability and hardware availability, about an OS that will run on any type of hardware; 1001 others.

When I buy a PC I want to be able to choose not just from different processors and hard drives and motherboards, but I want a range of OS to choose from too. With every new OS launched, maybe that day comes a little closer.

Unfortunately I don't have the hundreds of thousands of man-hours available to do this myself, perhaps next week!

Well I've news for the lot of you, they are all rubbish; 19th century software in a 21st century world. They are all designed by idiots, written by morons.

We should all be welcoming the news of launch of a new operating system with open-arms; It will probably be rubbish too, but until we escape from the MS monoculture, we will never have option of a modern, secure OS. Competition is the tool by which this may be achieved, frankly neither linux nor MAC OS have the 'edge' required.

I say welcome to Chrome, the more the merrier!

Twitter - too corporate by half? 10:12am on 03 Jul 2009 With every TV and Radio programme witlessly blathering on about Twitter at every opportunity, it seems somehow just that it should now be buried under a deluge of SPAM. Just rewards I say.
