European hangover set to linger 3:25pm on 29 Nov 2008 Always the negative, never the positive, load of rubbish again Chick! Remember the great games over the last 5/6 years, Celtic beating Man U, AC Milan, Juventus, Porto, Ajax, Lyon, Benfica, and even Liverpool away, yes it was Uefa cup, but it was still one of the best victories in recent years. Also Rangers beating Lyon away and can't remember others off the top of my head cause I'm a hoops fan, but there's been a few. Yes, the away games have been bad and at times embarrasing, but no need to focus so heavily on the negative, I think the positive games have maybe spoiled us a bit much, but as a nation, I still think we're doing better than we maybe should.

Farewell Euro 2008 3:12pm on 01 Jul 2008 I was a bit sceptical about this particular blog when I first started reading, but I have to admit I did enjoy it, well, most of it. It was good to read about someone giving their thoughts and experiences who isn't one of the usual fuddy duddy bbc reporters. Although I would just like to echo Stokerambo's slightly. Unfortunately, I did find parts Anglo-centric, specifically the English being missed blog, and the "the football season kicks off in only 40 days" comment again re-inforces it. I am not too disappointed, unfortunately, no-one at the BBC can see that we're all tired with the attitude that if the other home nations are involved, then we have to put up wth English bias whether England are involved or not. For once, I'd like to hear, when Scotland aren't involved, maybe Welsh or Northern Irish commentators. Simple solution...When our own nations aren't involved, then the whole UK has to listen to either English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish as part of a rota system. Any other people have thoughts on that?
A new national anthem 1:11pm on 27 Jun 2008 Although Mark's article stems from his observations in the football tournament, I'm sure he is looking at the bigger picture of the UK in general and not just when England play football! ;)

I'd be more in favour of all home nations having their own anthem and completely ditch having a UK anthem. Along with this, I'd like to see the home nations, similar to football or the majority of sports, competing by themselves in say the Olympics because, we don't really hate each other, but we love competing against each other, don't we? How sweet is it for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland when they beat the English at something? The English, in a masochistic way like getting beat cause then they get a chance to bash the stars!! Politicaly we still need the UK, but sporting events, lets all go our own way and meet up occasionally for some friendly banter! GSTQ can be used for approriate events, but not as a UK anthem. I'd be more than happy to see England having their own anthem, it would make them happy and no-one could complain about using GSTQ as the England anthem.
Zidane waltzes in as Italy bow out 1:11pm on 24 Jun 2008 I'm sorry to disagree with some of you, but Spain-Italy, for me, was one of the worst games I have ever had the misfortune to watch! Senna, Casillas and Chiellini aside, all the rest should be ashamed to call themselves professional football players and I'm almost glad that the majority of "supporters" inside were various VIP/Sponsorship/Corporate people and that thousands of real supporters didn't pay cash to watch that! I've seen better value for money at a local junior match. David Silva and Luca Toni really should be made to watch their performances over and over again and explain why, as professionals who play and practice almost every day of their live, why they were so poor. David Silva? Would struggle to cross a road never mind a football! Luca Toni? 6 foot, 4 inches of Blancmange!! Anyone going near him should expect him to just collapse to the ground (he's almost as good as Camoranesi) Such a poor, cheating attitude, which is a shame because he can be a good player when he tries! I'm sorry to be so negative but that game really was the worst I can remember, and I'm fed up with this attitude of players being touched slightly and going down as if being shot (and I do include others beside Spain and Italy!) and what's this with holding their shins, maybe they need to start wearing shin pads that actually work?? Or is that rolling about, holding the shin just for effect?? Message to BBC, please delete this game from your archive and never subject us or future generations from having to view any minute of that game again, thanks!
