Its nice to read a blog that although isnt a good story for the conservative party, is actually well written enough not to bias one way or another, and is purely a presentation of the facts. You seem to be single handedly justifying the liscence fee to me at the moment.

However I would like to mention that this does seem a little bit of a non story. The whole expenses scandal is far from an non story however focussing on one person does the subject no justics and is part of the reason the corrupt MPs get away with so much.

I do wonder how many of the bloggers on here would feel if some of their comments in private away from the work place were secretly recorded and then shown to all their customers and colleagues?

Also on a legal question is it actually legal to sack someone on the forms of a private conversation that should not have been aired?

It makes you think that if this "large" figure, which is now larger wasnt mentioned back when it should have been. It shows this labour government has no interest in what things cost as long as there spending more than the tories.

Why does this government measure success in how much they can spend and not what they can get for the money?

This was definatly a political war and totally unjustified. Despite the sudden reason (when WMDs were not found) of regime change for the human rights of the Iraqi populace.

I just think this starts unravelling the picture as to how labour plan, the conspiracy theorist would even go as far to say this is the plan.

First of all id like to say thanks for all the blogs, and balanced reporting. Its been a while since I have seen a reporter report facts and not try and spin it one way or the other. Hopefully the BBC will see sense at some point, and leave you in charge of the Fort and Nick can further his career in the labour party as Spin Doctor (poorly)

Any back on subject, I find it coincidental that Labour are only just suggesting this idea, I thought Gordon was leading the way in democratic reform and the tories are a do nothing party? If this is the case how come the tories have already trialed this (as in actually done something other than propose it and then hope people forget they have proposed it). I think this is a knee jerk reaction by labour to say "oh we thought of that too".

Also is it just me or does the fact that all these speaches coming from everyone but Gordon make you think the labour party is more finished than origionally thought? Surely on something as democratic change the whole party can come to a decision and present as one (i.e through their spokesman and leader Gordon!)

Id love to see him get told to answer a question, it would make this sorry state of a government worth watching for a 10min while he squirms.

I know it wasn't the full conference but it was a tory conference?

Just seems planned to distract attention from the Conservatives for some reason.

What makes Voting "yes" the right thing to do? Regardless of your views the right thing to do for the country is what the majority decide, unless of course you are against Democracy?

Just because someone disagrees with your view point doesn't make them wrong.

The Irish need to vote for what is best for Ireland, if thats the Lisbon Treaty then so be it. However just because they voted no does not make them wrong, the majority thought the best thing for Ireland was to reject the treaty, and in a democracy that makes it the right choice. Just a Yes vote would be the right choice if the majority voted for it.

Just really hate people saying something is wrong because it doesnt agree with them. Its like you can have democracy only if you think and do as i think and do.

Hello again, for some reason you make me want to post :)

Although I agree with you that she would be a positive role model to black girls on the whole decended from slavery aspect. Surely she would also be a role model to any male/female of any origion, on the fact that you can "change your Stars" (a quote from A Knights Tale).

Why do people have to be coloured to see her as a role model, surley she is a role model to white people, asians? or to anyone that believe they are doomed to follow their heritage?

I just think sometimes colour is focussed on too much...

Well im in a slight pickle with that question, unfortunatly I can't vote for labour because i really don't agree/like some of there major players, which is a shame because i know some of their Mps on the ground are actually really good and dont tow the party line.

In the area im currently registered its Tory stronghold, and i can see why the MP we have is good. He has personally helped in a situation in the labour constituancy next door which a certain Mr Straw is MP, where the police fabricated evidence to drive a pub out of business, it was all settled out of court, due to financial reasons, but he brokered and forced a large settlement, which ordinarily we wouldnt got, and it was quoted in the papers that if they werent guilty they wouldnt have settled out of court.

However depending on when he holds the election will depend on the vote, as the constituency that i will be moving to has too very apealing candidates and they are labour and Lib dem. So if im still where i am now when the election is called i will be voting for the Tory MP, however if i move i am yet undecided on the other two.

However as said previously im apprehensive with the Labour candidate because of the leader of the party and the cabinet. However i keep trying to stick to my principle of voting the person i think will best benefit the area, but i can't help but worry about the bigger picture, as my job tends to make me look at both angles.

So you could class me as a floating voter, but i try not to vote for the leader of the party, yet GB is making it rather hard for me not to vote against him in spite.

Maybe that was a little harsh saying i disagree with most of what you say. I suppose a more accurate term would be i have issue with most of what you say. I just have a drive to understand why you think what you think. Because i believe in order to think something is wrong and in my opinion your view is flawed, i have to fully understand why you think what you think and what youe argument is. How anyone can disagree with someone without first fully understanding their argument is beyond me. Never dismiss a point of view, because there may be a part that you agree with, not everything is black an white. Well that how i think anyway.

I must even point out that i even enjoy DHW posts, they are so opposite to any of my views that i get worked up reading them. However i still read them, because he does make what i consider to be valid points of view, doesnt matter what i like or dislike they are valid points.

Hi Sega, i read most of your posts and usually disagree with most you say, however I do like reading your posts when you have the chance to talk without the insults throwing at you or from you (in defence alot of the time).

I actually take your point about the lack of passion (if thats the right word) behind the speech, it did feel rather scripted. However the reason i liked it was because its what is going through my head at the moment. I think it was just nice to see someone say what alot of people are thinking (not all i agree and only a general election will determine which group is in the majority)

I do believe however if something like that is to be said a response should be allowed, hence maybe the forum was incorrect. I actually believe PMQ should be the right forum, however that is far to punch an judy and not really an area for proper debate, and i dont think any party in that chamber is capable of proper debate, because they all want to be heard instead of debating for what they believe.

It would be nice to have a Question time style debate at the next election between the 3 party leaders. Something i like with the American elections. I know we elect the party, however once an MP gets to westminster the whips take change and they tow the party line (in most cases) so who better to give us that line than the leader ?

Went slightly off topic, but i could rabble for ages on politics of all colours, its like an addiction, and sometimes i feel really out of touch with my age group for the fascination with it.
