Where exactly does he think he is going to get into Government? In 2007 when they had the chance in Scotland and Wales they ran a mile!
As a depressed Labour supporter it is Cameron who will be the next PM - thanks to Brown who is destroying the Labour Party and the economy at the same time. As the Libs race to catch Labour up on the right of British politics, it is the Tories who look to be occupying the middle ground. Words fail me.

Its good to see a Cabinet member who is willing to offer some analysis and ideas.
After Crewe and Nantwhich, the London Mayor, 5th place in Hendon and now the disaster in Glasgow East what will it take for Labour to get rid of loser Brown.
I for one dont want to see the Tories back.
In Milliband we have a man with ideas who is not oversold like Brown was.
But who will be prepared to wield the knife?

And I nearly had a heart attack when I read on the BBCweb site that Harriet Harman thinks that the outcome of the Glasgow East By-election 'is her moment' to run for the leadership.
Somebody, somewhere is just having a laugh surely?
From Blair to Brown to Harman? I think not. But it makes Blair to Brown to Balls much more likely.

Evan is absolutely excellent and understanding economics he doesnot let rubbish pass unchallenged.
Your political analysis is always worth hearing - even when I dont agree. But dont give up the day job, particularly when you are annoying the MPs over their inflated allowances and bruising their egos by forcing them to account.

The only thing I would add to your report - which looks like a balanced report of the party positions to me - is that I would be very worried if I were John Lewis at being associated with this issue.

I know there is no such thing as bad publicity, but surely being associated with a group of people who have fogotten that they are supposed to represent the rest of us and live by the same rules is bad for business!?

When the MPs have a 'Poundstretcher' and 'Aldi' list I think we might be getting the issue into a better place.

Nick, he didn't 'badger' the Tony Blair to quit, he undermined and obstructed the elected PM for 10 years, then in a constitutional coup became Labour Party leader and PM without an election. And we lecture other countries about democracy! Its been a shameful episode which has already cost the Labour Party dear - Ken Livingstone, Crewe and Nantwhich and now coming 5th behind the BNP! What more humiliation do Labour MPs need before they wake up and smell the coffee? As Lord Levy says, its time for Brown to go.
The difference of a year 10:21am on 23 Jun 2008 So lets just examine this for a moment. Alistair Darling comes in and takes the flak for policies that Gordon Brown and Ed Balls devised and are now shown to be failing. The solution to this - presumably briefed by No 10 - is that Balls is the man to set a new direction! This is a joke surely. Call Richard Curtis and the BlackAdder team!
