Sports Personality shortlist announced 11:34am on 02 Dec 2008 There are only three real sports to choose from in that nomination list. For that reason it should be one of Hamilton, Murray or Calzaghe to win it.
What is the point of the rugby league World Cup? 3:30pm on 23 Oct 2008 Well I'm really looking forward to this tournament and I used to follow the Rugby Union game massively until I saw a Super League game for the first time.

I saw how quick and non stop action and excitement League brought and couldnt be bothered with the stop start, get the ball kick out of touch and stand around doing nothing every 30 seconds that Rugby Union is. Seriously if you ever see a rugby union game on tv flick over to it at regular intervals and 9/10 times you will see no action going on at all.

I also wish this patronising tone towards "northerners" would be dropped when talking about rugby league, its a simplistic comment and conforming to rather lazy and dull stereotypes, please try to rise above it people!

His qualification period for the England team was closely scrutinised due to his billing as the next big thing. So I would be interested to know what his career batting stats were before he made his Test debut against the West Indies in 1991.

I'd guess it would be Brian Close (344) and Mike Selvey (466) on July 8th 1976 Test match after Close made his debut way back in 1949.
Ask Bearders #176 5:50pm on 29 Aug 2008 Looking through the batting averages for this seasons county Championship I noticed Ben Smith of Worcestershire was up to about 950 runs this season yet he has failed to notch up a century (9 fifties this season only).

So my question is, Is it a normal occurance for a batsman to reach 1000 runs in a season without registering a ton along the way.

England future brighter with Harmison back 5:33pm on 11 Aug 2008 Actually just checked, Saqlain played in the vilified ICL torunament so is therefore basically considered a cricketing leper and probably wont be allowed to tour India anyway! Nice thought whilst it lasted though :(
England future brighter with Harmison back 5:29pm on 11 Aug 2008 Well considering how all the xenophobes reacted to Pattinson playing for England when he was actually born here, I doubt we will see Saqlain be in the thoughts for a tour place. A real shame as he would bring some instant quality to the side in the place of any other real standout candidates for Test level.
Harmison and Anderson shine for KP 8:01pm on 07 Aug 2008 A great day and a great fight back from England after what has been a poor series. A real shame though that some people still feel the need to get on the back of Ian Bell, is he everyones favourite whipping boy or something? I mean his 199 in the first test coming in at 117/3 in the middle of a collapse was hardly a non pressurised time to be coming out to the crease was it?
I wish we could acknowledge talent in this country rather than shoot it down every opportunity!
Outstanding Smith deserves his success 03:19am on 03 Aug 2008 I find it amazing that Sajid Mahmood is still getting a mention for the side, I mean did people actually watch him bowl when he played international cricket before? I can only live in fear that England go into a test match with Anderson and Mahmood as its strike bowlers, we'd struggle against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe if we went down that route, never mind Australia or South Africa!
