BUT today what I read sounds almost like a press release from the Chancellor, "better by the end of the year'!! -- no chance.

We'll have a quick burst of deflation, followed by a long run of inflation, which, if we are not careful, could tip over to Mugabe style Hyper inflation

This follows a "political Correspondent" selling GB's jobs package for him on the breakfast news sunday morning, he also sounded more like a Labour Party Spokesman rather than an impartial commentator

Throughout his speech I haerd the word "Contingency". Can someone please tell me how big the governments TOTAL Contingency Reserve is?
End of Thatcher's tax incentives 5:58pm on 24 Nov 2008 Gordon always made out that Tony was being "New Labour" and he still had his faith in "Old Labour", so now we see it.

A rise in Tax for those earning over £140.000, but for the rest of us ANOTHER increase in National Insurance. Another way of taking money off the workers.

Also the 15% VAT scam. Most people would have seen VAT come off fuel and booze, BUT, guess what, the increases on duty for fuel and booze EXACTLY cancel out the decrease.

So, a question. From my understanding the VAT discount would have cost the Government £12 Billion, how much will it really cost now that Fuel, Booze and Fags are exempt from the changes? Also as a secondary question, will those Duty increases on the "Tax the workers three" remain AFTER VAT returns to 17.5% and how much will that bring in for the Goverment?

First point, is he the Prime Minister or Chancellor? Mr Darling is redundant, not needed, Gordon can do it all.

Secondly, he (GB) believes we are in the throes of a transition from a local to to a Global economy. WHAT??? Bankers and Greed caused this, nothing else, they operate Globally and fleece local governments, even from your own estimable Robert Peston, bail outs have reached 5,000 billion, that's 5 Trillion, because bankers became greedy, they had their snouts in the trough.

By that I mean most people hit an age where they think the country is going to the dogs. (I know I have), Tom seems to think the opposite.

He seems to have Rose coloured Specs on -- perhaps becasue he's part of the insulated political class?
