Full deposit protection is nigh 5:54pm on 05 Oct 2008 If HMG has covers all deposits, what then is the benefit of Treasury Bills? The difference in rates (6% Vs 3%) has no value, since the lower rate of Treasuries was in return for security. This means that either Government borrowing is going to cost signficantly more or there is going to be a cap on savers rates.
