Why cars are greener than buses (maybe) 10:14am on 20 Nov 2009 Public Transport is all very well if you live in a City in the UK where it is hardly economical to have a car anyway.

But, move out by a few miles (I'm still within the M25) 2 buses to get to my local 'big' town taking at least 40 minutes (when it is 10 minutes in the car). So when you consider that one of these bus routes runs a 2 hour schedule between 8am and 4 pm and the other a 1 hour schedule between 10am and 3 pm, you can see that not using a car is nigh on impossible.

If the Government wishes us to get out of our cars to 'Save the Planet', I would suggest they wait until they can offer a viable, relaible alternative before I myself consider it
Benitez and O'Neill on the offensive 09:51am on 25 Aug 2009 I was alway under the impression that if you sold a key player, there would be a better one to replace them?

It seems that by selling the creator of everything we did well in the past, Benitez is either mad, or is trying to show up the lack of transfer opportunities available to him.

He may try to argue that Xabi was unsettled at Anfield, but by offering him out to any bidder in the fruitless (and pointless) pursuit of Barry, surely Benitez himself was the cause of that unsettlement? It is also bemusing(and probably amusing to our rivals) to see that Benitez thinks Lucas can fill the hole left by Alonso when it is clear that he is not up to playing in the Premier League...

It all boils down to money. If the owners are unsure of Benitez as a manager they should either give him enough transfer funds with which to seal his own fate (not that he hasn't had enough of that already!!!), or replace him and fund the new manager. If they (Hicks and Gillet) can't do either, then they should sell the club to someone who can.

There are fundamentel problems at Liverpool Football Club and much that it hurts to say it, I see it as impossible for them to win anything this season until the back-room power games are sorted out.
Old Firm departure would be ruinous 1:22pm on 21 Apr 2009 I think the presence of the Old Firm duo is just papering over the cracks. Scottish football is in dire straits with or without the involvement of Celtic and Rangers. If clubs can only attract a handful of fans to a visit of one of the 'Big 2' then surely there is something fundamentally wrong? It is easy to blame them for wanting out and then claiming that they are the downfall of Scottish Football, but I think that the demise of many clubs in Scotland is more than inevitable whether Rangers and Celtic are involved or not...
England's elite in pole position 10:22am on 26 Feb 2009 To all those naysayers about 'boring Liverpool' this and 'negative Liverpool' that...

When did you last see a side really, and I mean REALLY go for it in the 1st leg of the knockout stages? (apart from Bayern last night who were playing possibly the worst side to make the last 16 ever)

Liverpool's weakness is well documented and without Gerrard and a fully fit Torres everyone knows the squad is light

BUT

Without Gerrard and a fully fit Torres they find themselves in the strongest position of all of the British clubs taking an away goal back to Anfield and on last night's perfomance, Real will have to perform a minor miracle to progress.

I think that Man United will come away with a 2-1 win against Inter and, as for Chelsea, it's a tough one. If they can deal with a hostile Stadio Olimpico and no doubt a hostile Juve then they will progress. I can see a 2-2 aggregate score in that one...

Arsenal need one of those dream CL nights in Rome but sadly I don't think their current squad has what it takes.

Setanta users experience viewing problems 8:54pm on 01 Dec 2008 I honestly believe that the poor signal is NOTHING to do with installations and EVERYTHING to do with bandwidth. For example, for the first time since I have been a subsciber, Setanta has just gone off line. There's no rain and no wind so nothing to affect my dish and now it has come back on at half time! It's no coincidence, I just think that Setanta are turning down the power to save money.
Frustration for Britain's hockey teams 4:26pm on 20 Aug 2008 Fatigue?

Jason Lee should be sacked for that comment alone!!!!

All the players were taken out of club hockey and dedicated to GB so the training and conditioning was down to Lee and his team.

If they were fatigued, which I find VERY hard to believe, who's fault is that?
GB show jumpers rue bad luck 09:55am on 19 Aug 2008 Good old British need to be 'sporting' costing us a medal. It's a shame that the ideal of 'sporting gestures' is long gone, but it's about time we Brits woke up to the fact and started playing the game.

History will remember the Gold medalists, which could have easily been GBR but there will be no record of the fact that we won a 'moral' Gold...
Who is winning the Olympic crying game in Beijing? 10:37am on 13 Aug 2008 'These guys have sacraficed their lives in pursuit of glory, when the realisation kicks in they've failed, the emotional build up from being so intense for X amount of time (sometimes years of practice) is released.'

Quite right and it is the reaction of these 'true' athletes that typifies the Olympic spirit.

Unlike some of the 'professional' athletes that compete and have no reaction to being out of the games (other than the 'reasons' supplied by their Sport Psychologists), those who give up their livelihoods for the Olympic Dream are the true heroes and the tears that follow an exit or unexpected medal bear their soul.

Forget those who have the ability to spend all year at high altitude training camps and not worry about feeding their families, it is those who train for the Olympics alongside a 'normal' life that should be heralded...
