Will he or won't he? 10:29am on 29 Sep 2009 Look how angry Brown got on the BBC's Andrew Marr programme the other day, when he was confronted with a question he didn't want to answer and didn't know how to handle...

There is no way Brown would subject himself to that from the other party leaders - he's a natural born coward. As others have said, he'll set out the smoke and mirrors now to give the impression that he'll do the debate, but when the time comes he'll bottle it.

Whatever he's saying now, telling people he will do them, he will never commit to a live televised debate. The man is a total coward, as we have all seen over the years.

Mandelson may try and push him towards agreeing, but I suspect this will be for Mandelson's benefit, rather than that of Brown or the Labour party.
The Obama and Gordon card 09:47am on 24 Sep 2009 This kind of reminds me of the "Yo Blair!" incident between Obama and Brown's predecessors, where Bush couldn't even be bothered to stop eating while talking to our PM.

Obama seems to hold Brown in as equal amount of contempt.
Then again, don't we all...?

Seriously though, how's Brown going to handle this snub from his 'Chosen One'?? Reports are that he's not in the best of mental states as it is... Will this send him over the edge?
Mind your language 12:31pm on 21 Sep 2009 As I went for a run along the beachfront the other day, I passed Clegg and some of his minions playing beach cricket... If he wields his 'savage cuts' axe in the same manner that he wields a cricket bat, he'll hardly make a dent in the level of our debt.

Of course, it's hypothetical anyway. The closest the Lib Dems are likely to get to 'savage cuts' are from the daggers they'll plunge into Clegg come their next round of change-the-leader, which surely must be due sometime around now. Certainly after the election, assuming he continues with the crackpot policies announced over the weekend, and leads them into third place behind Labour.

It is increasingly clear that Alistair Darling plans to announce a spending package designed to force the Tories to spell out what more they would do, or to expose that they are refusing to do so and have hidden plans."

Have the Conservatives been given full, unequivocal, access to every department's accounts? How can they plan a full budget/spending review without this information...??

Wouldn't it be nice to have a government that makes decisions based purely on what the country needs, rather than their own political posturing?

That's his problem right there... he's never been upfront with people, everything he says is a lie. Unless he's going to start this speech with an apology for lying to us about "Labour Investment", nothing will change - he, and is party, are doomed.
No-one can rewrite political history 09:43am on 14 Sep 2009 For months Labour MPs, not just Brown, kept telling us that they would invest while the Conservatives cut. They really are in trouble if they're relying on everyone having collective amnesia for them to stand a chance at the elections...

Labour seem to have fallen into the trap of assuming the electorate are as stupid as they are themselves. They're in for a hell of a shock come the election...
