EU set for tough bargaining 4:44pm on 29 Oct 2009 Johnfrance and others mistake the concept of "global warming" and other green issues with recycling and using resources more intelligently. They seem to assume that the old dogs in charge of energy supplies are better than the new ones asking for a bit space for the new ideas based on greener, cleaner and abundant sources. The truth is that global warming and such things are unstoppable and we can't do anything about it, it's too late. True is also the fact that gas and fuel are limited resources and mostly in the hands of the enemies of the west. Why depending on North Africa or Russia when we can have energy from our own wind, water, sun (independence). Also, had we not done nothing at all, cities like London would be unbearable to live in. Shall I remind you that the infamous London fog was nothing else than smug from coal chimneys.

On the subject of Phony Bliar, I only hope for the sake of Europe's honorability that he never gets elected anywhere other than at The Hague tribunal.
The fight over a Blair presidency 9:20pm on 25 Oct 2009 You don't need someone able to stop cars on the roads of Moscow or Beijing, there are already plenty of road police on duty doing just that... We need someone we can trust and someone who can represent Europe with honesty and respect to its principles (including thou shalt not kill), and not someone who would betray his own country for his own interest. If he is able to put Britain to shame under the command of the worst president in the history of the USA and send his men and women in the Army to death only for his own benefit, what would he not be prepared to do in the European Union. I am gradually becoming a Eurosceptic and I am aware of many others in Europe like me, Blair being the President would be the final blast to a short lived dream...
President of precisely what? 4:50pm on 19 Oct 2009 I don't think that the Germans or the French will allow Phony to be their president. Were that to be the case I will cease to believe in whatever remains of the European dream... and might consider Australia, if they let me join them that is!

I think you will fine that the "story" about Britannia was written by the Romans who manage to go all the way up to New Castle and Carlyle where the Adrian wall is. Decadence force them to leave Britannia. Then came new invaders and yeah it's all a bit complicated but it is all in your language 30% pure Latin, a bit of French which happens to be latin as well, a lot of Frisian and German and then the Scots, Irish and Welsh clinging to their lost identity as much as they can...

About the USSR, I think you will also find that the most despicable Tyrant the Russians had was actually from Georgia; Stalin.

Please, allow me to rephrase your sentence: " In regards to John, in the Pub he is still a respected lad, despite being a criminal."

Of course there's little if no evidence at all given that the information is provided by the secrete services. But there was also information that was not secret, provided by the UN inspectors, and that did not find one single thread of evidence revealing that Iraq was a risk to the UK, not an immediate threat that could not be dealt with peacefully. And the WWII Chamberlain analogy does not hold given that inspectors were allowed in Iraq to check the situation. I mean you can delude yourself as much as you like, the only ones who benefit do not care what you think.

Can anyone not hold Tony Blair responsible for the war in Iraq? Even if you thought that it was fine to go to war, that it was fine to invent false evidences and go against the UN to seize the country by force, you cannot say that Tony Blair had no responsibility over such calculated evil blunder that is costing so many lives as well as benefits... And if the EU is to have any ethics, they should ban Tony Blair from its presidency. The only European place where Blair should stand is trial in "The Hague" tribunal...
Cameron's Lisbon problem 10:09am on 03 Oct 2009 Don't hold your breath... The EU issue is like one of those ridiculous wrestling fights where contenders are dressed up with silly costumes and everyone cheers up despite knowing well that the outcome of the fight is already decided. And yet there's a never ending carry on fighting and encouraging the audience to distract their attention, after all the new ways of power control are all about distracting the audience. I would be very surprised if the UK were to leave the EU and I would be very ashamed if Tony Blair were to become our EU president, not surprised though. He is a liar who should really be behind bars for lying to its country and forcing it to war sending the country's most courage men and women to die under the false pretext that they are doing it for the sake of security in the UK. If you are really serious about taking some level of control over your own destiny and that of you country's you would do well voting for any party promising to renegotiate or even leave the EU if elected. Sadly many of you like in my country identify with a major party and cannot vote anything else, despite that party having been absorbed by a common will of a very small group of people for whom country is where the power lies.
Relishing Schumacher's return 11:13am on 30 Jul 2009 Lewis Hamilton has nothing to fear. He has already raced against and overwhelmed the one driver who managed to beat Schumy, FA, the reason why he decided to leave the competition. Let's only hope that Renault gets it together and no more mistakes mean that LH, FA, Schumi, Raikkonen Webber and Vettel will be racing to get to the podium. It will be the closest race ever. Incidentally Schumacher makes his return in a land run by Zapatero, the spanish equivalent of Schumacher... Unfortunately boring Valencia does not allow for overtaking. If it rains it will pour though. If there is one of those heatwaves, temperatures will be between 35 to 40 degrees and that also might benefit the Brawns...
Owen worth Man Utd gamble 10:51am on 03 Jul 2009 I have always liked Owen very much, even more than Beckham and was really sad at the way he was treated during his short spell in Real Madrid. In fact as a At Madrid supporter, back then I could't help supporting RM with Zidane, Owen, Woodgate, Beckham in the squad. But after helping, by way of doing nothing very much, to relegate Newcastle I have no respect for someone whose first statement is, "I want to stay in the Premier league". Well, you have to deserve such honour...

There is still a lot of stuff to watch. Interesting to see how the usual attention grabbers deal with the anonymity of being in the back. To see who the best driver, team is under the circumstances. What I still don't get is how the new rules, that meant to bring more balance, have actually had the opposite effect. The only races where other teams could beat the Brawns were under heavy rain. Whereas last year we had three to four contenders for the title... Also the Brawn cars appear to be 100% reliable with a Mercedes engine. I wonder how Honda can deal with that?
