AM Glass Box. 07:01am on 30 Nov 2009 Brown should be careful trying to blame the failure to capture Bin Laden on the Pakistani Government.

He has obviously forgotten that Bush junior and his poodle Blair diverted resources to Iraq when they had not finished the job in Afghanistan and that is why we are still in Afghanistan today!

Meanwhile back to the terrible loss of lives in Afghanistan, the underlying problem with this conflict in Afghanistan is that Blair and Bush were not rational.

They went to war in Afghanistan and then were diverted by regime change for Iraq.

If they had undertaken one job at a time and devoted the necessary aid money to support the Afghan people and consistent military resources to defeat the Taliban etc in Afghanistan from day one, then we would be in a different situation today.

More than one in seven British adults surveyed (15%) admitted to bypassing the healthcare system to get hold of prescription only medicine without a prescription, a practice which 78% of GPs surveyed say is putting people's health and potentially lives at risk as some of the medicines obtained in this way may be counterfeit. These statistics from recent UK surveys show that more and more people are putting themselves in danger from buying fake pills - it's estimated that between 50 to 90 per cent of medicines sold without a prescription or through unregulated websites are counterfeit . People buy medicines in this way because they think they are getting cheaper drugs, faster delivery, a better choice - in fact they're taking a real gamble with their health. Counterfeit medicines can be dangerous. Fake pills could make you very ill.

AM glass box for Friday 09:03am on 30 Oct 2009 Back to the subject of European President, a woman would be a good idea, let us hope that someone puts forward Mary Robinson the former Irish President and more recently former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. She would be an excellent choice, why not invite her on your programme?

A group of 30 millionaires plan to sue 11 foreign banks including ABN AMRO, DBS, HSBC, and Citibank in Beijing, claiming those banks cheated them into buying complex financial derivatives which led to losses of more than HK$1 billion ($129 million).

Lai Jianping, a partner of the Transking Law Office in Beijing and director of a so-called 'Victims Association of Discount Stock", told METRO yesterday there are 30 members in his association, including some living in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

"We had a total loss of HK$1 billion," he said.

Lai said the group filed lawsuit applications in 4 Beijing courts but were yet to receive a reply.

The group wants the bank to compensate their losses.

AM Glass box for monday 07:45am on 26 Oct 2009 As a former Journalist the start of the trial of Radovan Karadzic brings back memories of reporting the break up of the former Yugoslavia.

At this time I hope that the media does not just focus on the crimes of the Bosnian Serbs since there were no innocent parties in this conflict.

All the former Presidents of the six republics were responsible for triggering this war for the simple reason that they would not talk and try to compromise.

However the two who stand out were Franjo Tudjman and Slobodan Milosevic both of whom have gone on to other things since that time!
The AM Glass Box 07:39am on 23 Oct 2009 The classification of crimes as 'no crime' is nothing new and has been accepted practice due to either a lack of evidence or an unwillingness on the part of the victim to press charges. so why the fuss now?
Perhaps a realization that crime stats are not always what they appear!
