When politics matters... 09:57am on 10 Nov 2009 Re. Mrs. Janes: When someone says "There was 25 spelling mistakes in the letter", they are in no position to criticise someone else's use of English.

Her behaviour is cheapening the memory of her son's life, it is cheapening the efforts of those still out there, and it cheapens her. Using her own grief to score political points is demeaning, and frankly embarrassing to listen to. Once she comes out of the immediate grieving process, she should be ashamed of the way she is behaving right now.
Charging for online news 11:29am on 10 Aug 2009 ... of course, for users like me who use plug-ins like "Ad Blocker Plus" in their Firefox browser, pretty much any internet-funded model of advertising falls flat on its face because I never see the adverts in the first place. And any sites that carry advertising that gets around this get ignored my me anyway.

Huh?! How is the BBC reducing advertising revenue for you or anyone else? It doesn't (in general - I know there are exceptions) carry *any* advertising. If the advertising and publishing industries lack the imagination to make the most of the current and future situations then they deserve to go under. I thought the whole (over-puffed) appeal of these creative types was their ability to "think outside the envelope".

From all the whining we hear, it looks more like they are having trouble licking the envelope, never mind thinking outside it...
Thursday 23 July 2009 2:10pm on 24 Jul 2009 With just 18.1% of the electorate voting for the eventual Conservative "victor", surely this by-election is less a victory for the Tories and more a victory for people who would not trust their elected representatives as far as they could thrown them. Hopefully that question will get put to whichever smug representative of the Tories is interviewed tonight!

Banks' most pressing problem 1:12pm on 07 Oct 2008 Mr Peston would be taken a little more seriously if he could end his love affair with the first person pronoun. Every report, including his slouched, and very unprofessional one on the one o'clock news tv broadcast right now, is peppered with "I" and "me".

It's *not* all about you, Robert, and the smug, self-satisfied reporting that you put out is to say the least irritating. Please desist.

Google, privacy and Street View 10:20am on 04 Jul 2008 En route to my office in Victoria this morning I saw a Google camera car pulled over to the side of the road approaching Parliament Square, just by Horseguards Parade being closely examined by two uniformed police officers. Perhaps the backlash has already started?
