Obamania - again 1:22pm on 01 Apr 2009 Dear Mr Webb, As the BBC North America correspondent for the BBC, Why are you in the UK, at considerable expense, instead of feeding back American views from your normal posting?
BBC and the Gaza appeal 11:42am on 26 Jan 2009 I disagree with the decision not to broadcast an appeal. The BBC and DEC could consult and create an appeal that could be seen as even handed. But I also understand concerns regarding how this aid can be delivered given known instances of Hammas controlled police forces hijacking aid shipments. Someone tell me if you need to be a card carrying Hammas member to get a job driving trucks or ambulances in such a one party state? I'd also say that Stalin showed how easy it can be to get rid of 'undesirables' and hide their deaths in casualty lists.

Why 42 days? 10:43am on 10 Jun 2008 I feel the most galling thing is the fact that these politicians in power are often proclaiming that 'It's what the people want', or 'the majority of people are behind this'. It's obvious that our government no longer trusts the people. Our freedoms over the last 100 years have been nibbled away because government have played on fears of bomb-throwing anarchists of the Fin de Sicle, social and political agitation in the 20's and 30's, wars and terror threats.
Now the current administration won't allow a vote on the Lisbon Treaty, bottled out of an election late last year and will get ID cards in through the backdoor. Is it no surprise that the people no longer trust government? And sadly the Police, originated to protect the public, has become an instrument of the state and do not deserve to be tarred with the same unsavoury brush I'd like to slap Brown and Co. silly with.

But what recourse has the British public have to rail against a tyrannical government? We no longer control our guns or our purse, and continue to exchange our freedoms for safety until we deserve neither, as Benjamin Franklin would say.

As soon as there respective countries get tired of their graft and slimey shenannigans they will be able to board the gravy train to an even bigger Brussels beauracracy and suckle at the teat of the Nanny State.
