Ask Bearders #184 2:36pm on 28 Dec 2008 In the Boxing Day Test I noticed that Michael Clarke went a whole session without hitting a boundary scoring just 25 runs. Obviously in the really old times this was nothing irregular but since 1975 how many batsman have gone a whole session without hitting a boundary and also who holds the record for the lest runs in a session since 1975.
Haye much too hasty? 10:29pm on 26 Dec 2008 Iron d I have read through all your comments and I have come to the conclusion your boxing knowledge is lacking. I read you think Hatton will beat Pacman if Graham was still his coach. Floyd is a 10 times better coach than Billy Graham and Ricky would tell you that. Picking Pacman to beat Oscar wasn't amazing I had that as well.

Now as for your views on this fight you are entitled to your opinions about David Haye but please cut him some slack and respect the guy for challenging Vitali. So if you think Haye's comments are yobbish do you agree with Mayweather's comments? or Ali's comments? Please refrain from abusing Haye he is a legitimate British title hope so please just let us believe what we want to believe and if you are proved right then you can gloat.

Come on David!

Just wondering about the amazing acheivement of Gambhir and Laxman to score double centuries against Australia. I was trying to work out how many times two batsman had scored double hundreds in a test match innings before and I remember Sri Lanka have done it twice with Jayasuriya and Mahanama and then Sangakarra and Jayawardene. How many times has it been done? Also has anyone ever done it against Australia before?

Graham Gooch's England ratings 10:03pm on 11 Aug 2008 Most of the team isn't good enough. Strauss is still worth his place but we do need a replacement for the near future. Cook is a great talent and along with kp our best batsman and regardless of a bad day his catching has improved amazingly. Bell is a decent number 5 but not at 3. KP is a class of his own enough said. Colly is a fighter and well worth his place. Fred isn't really a number 6 but if anyone can find someone better I'd like to hear it. Ambrose is rubbish bring in Foster! Keep Broad for the future and Harmison if he keeps bowling. Monty is the best we have got so lay off him. Finally I wasn't a fan of anderson but he is turning into a really good bowler and has been our player of the summer by far.

Finally Key isn't good enough and is too old to improve enough end of story. Denly is a far better player and has time on his side.

During the first test of the England vs South Africa series at Lords in the final session of the first day Kevin Pietersen scored 91 runs. I was wondering how many people there are who have scored 100 in a session and also if any batsman has made a hundred before lunch on the first day of a test match?

England one-day ratings 10:03am on 30 Jun 2008 Overall a very poor series for england with very few positives really just the efforts of shah, broad and collingwood considering the form he was in coming into the series. Bell is frustrating but definitely needs to be kept in the side while wright looks out of his depth. Bopara needs to get some runs for essex but he does look promising. Prior should be recalled as keeper for the odis but for now i would stick with ambrose for the tests. pietersen is a world class player but isn't scoring the runs and i still am not sure he should be batting at 3. Whilst it is an important position i think having someone else there would help england much more. When kp scored all his runs in the world cup he batted at 4. Anderson has got far better with his accuracy but he still isn't consistently good enough at this level especially with simon jones coming back. I also think flintoff needs to prove himself before getting back in the team and that means definitely not until the winter.

Who will make way for Flintoff? 2:20pm on 09 Jun 2008 Bell should be dropped? Not a chance! He is our most talented batsman (pietersen aside) and according to Colin Croft on Sky sports is the only other englishman apart from kp to be world class.

The top four look settled enough with bell at five just needing a few good innings under his belt. Collingwood if he gets no runs in the odis should be dropped for bopara as they are equally good (or bad) bowlers and Bopara is a run machine this year.

If Flintoff has to be bought in (which I don't think he should until he proves himself) then Anderson has to go as on non swinging pitches he is about as dangerous as boycott would be in a 20 over game!

Broad should be kept as he is the brightest talent we have at the moment and anyone who thinks sidebottom should be dropped needs to think again because it is impossible to deny he has been our best bowler in the last 12 months.
