Is Australia unusually racist? 6:03pm on 14 Oct 2009 The blog has the wrong title. It should be "Is Australia un-ashamedly un PC?". To which the answer is a resounding YES.
We can still have a laugh about these things without getting all up tight, there was no malice involved anyone can see that.

Having worked in both Britain and Australia, you are definitely made to work harder in Australia all be it for less hours. The Poms are masters at looking busy and achieving very little.
After the Ashes 4:35pm on 28 Aug 2009 It seemed to me, and I went to 2 Ashes matches that the barmy army is now colonized by working class yobs who know very little about cricket and merely go the the cricket to get blind drunk (on full strength mind you - wake up CA), and chant abuse and boo players.
All these songs about convict colonies and God save your queen. These chants are 20 years old now. It is just plain boring. No-one cares who you are and where you come from blah blah.
The best riposte to English condescension is that we have avoided a recession AGAIN while you are suffering horrendously in the worst recession since the war. Enough said really.

Australian Republic back on radar 6:03pm on 28 Apr 2009 I think Liz does a pretty good job. She provides a free service as head of state. We only pay for once a decade visit and that is it. Compare her with people like Bush and Sarkozy and I think she does well.

I put it out there that if the Barmy Army didn't sing about us living in a 'convict colony' then we would be happy to be associated with U.K.

Six months makes a bad difference 1:14pm on 04 Mar 2009 No surprise really. Tech Stock Bubble was irrelevant in Oz and there was always other nations to trade with during the Asian Crisis.
I would like to see Rudd's inititives be more targetted rather than just cash handouts. How about some Nuclear Power Stations and fixing Sydney transport for starters.
