The language reads the way it does because that's what you get when you have thirty odd lawmakers in a room trying to thrash out a compromise. In thirty different languages.
Turnout turnaround? 10:24am on 11 Nov 2008 Am I missing something here? They're saying that the turnout did not go up because roughly the same percentage of registered voters voted this year. But that fails to take into account the huge upsurge in registrations. The percentage was the same, the actual number was vastly increased.

Don't they realise the purpose of the internet is to be rude and agressive to total strangers from behind the cloak of total anonymity?

"Secret Service" is a vague term, and can mean espionage, intelligence or security services. For example, the American Secret Service conducts no espionage and focuses entirely on the security of the president and anti-counterfeiting (they were historically a division of the US Treasury.)
Ireland's intelligence agency is G2, a division of the Irish Army.

Will she still debate? 10:13am on 30 Sep 2008 I'm about this close to posting a screeching, teary-eyed "LEAVE SARAH ALONE!" video on YouTube. Poor woman is so obviously in over her head and yet she's trying so hard to put on a brave face for everyone. She was picked in a cynical attempt to scoop up disgruntled Hillary voters and didn't feel she could let her party down by refusing.

But the question you've got to asked of any VP, is are they unfit to be plain ol' P?
When the president is a 72 year old cancer survivor you have to ask especially loud, possibly banging the table for emphasis and with a nervous waver in your voice and the gleam of panic in your eyes.

Is she unfit to be president?

If he does visit the troops he's using America's wounded heroes for electoral advantage.

Ireland questions EU course 10:00am on 20 Jun 2008 My respect for Cowen has just gone up quite a few notches. I think he's nailed all the major concerns. If he could get the EU to act on the above, especially 5 and 7, I think he could get a second referendum passed and have made a substantial improvement to the EU as a whole.
Lisbon: A hard sell 10:06am on 13 Jun 2008 To be fair, I don't think the document was deliberately made obtuse. I think it's just what happens when you get thrity or forty policy wonks trying to find wording that satisfies everyone.

Irish people tend to react very badly to bullying (or should I say "very well"?).
