In mourning 4:45pm on 16 Jun 2008 Surely we are forgetting that going into Iraq was a sideshow, if memory serves me correctly the people behind 9/11 were supposed to be in Afghanistan. Leaving aside the rights or wrongs of that conflict, surely we allowed Dubya's fixation with Iraq to sidetrack international efforts to get Bin Laden?

Potential rebels with a cause 12:22pm on 11 Jun 2008 Remember, when this kind of legislation gets on the books it tend to get used for purposes other than that for that it was intended. Councils use snooping laws for petty things and the USA can seemingly extradite anyone from the UK it wishes for any reason (of course we can't do the same with their citizens).

Premier performance? 12:40pm on 03 Jun 2008 1 - If she wants to be leader she needs to look for a new safe seat (Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath perhaps?).

2 - Why is the official government position to make out that anyone who doesn't agree that it's a wonderful idea to let them have the right to lock up anyone they fancy for 42 days is a bit thick and soft in the 'war on terror'? Personally I'd prefer not to let this bunch of dimwits (or any governmnet for that matter) have such powers.

3 - Why 42 days? Why not 30, or 50? There's no rhyme or reason, except they think they can get this figure through. If they do, no doubt they will come back in a year and say we need 60 days!
