One strives in vain to detect in your post any significant or even insignificant trace of rational argument based upon verifiable facts.

There is, however, abuse. Is this supposed to persuade one of something other than the inescapable fact that you are abusive?
Sentiment and history 1:46pm on 17 Sep 2008 If the Bank of Scotland is swallowed up and effectively ceases to exist as a recognizably distinctive entity in terms of governance and identity, I shall move my accounts.

One wonders why HBOS could not be restructured so as to divest itself of the problematic home-loan end of its business. Presumably the UK government did not want that because of the likely adverse impact on the housing market.

In opting for a merger in these circumstances HBOS should surely see to it that the Bank of Scotland is treated generously.

Somebody take this Dick_Whittington chap away and give him some medication or a comic to read. He is totally undermining the unionist case with all of this hopelessly fantastical claptrap.

It is clearly so far from the real world that people cannot reasonably be expected to take unionism seriously if they pay any attention to it. Facts wrong, in fact invented, argumentation unsound, false assumptions scattered about all over the place. An insult to the intelligence.

If this is the best that the unionist case can come up with now by way of advocacy, that case is lost. Rarely have I seen such unmitigated piffle in this discussion forum. Pro-independence posts are looking infinitely more credible and persuasive than this. How embarrassing.
Wendy resigns 12:02pm on 30 Jun 2008 If the Labour group in your dinky little provincial assembly choose another hopeless nonentity as their leader, that dinky little provincial assembly will effectively become the property of the SNP, who will never be faced with a credible opposition there capable of preventing them from turning it into the national parliament of an independent country.

It is time for the Labour Party to send in someone of stature from Westminster to take over the defence of the Union at Holyrood. There are too many Scots in the British government in any case.

Take the Chancellor of the Exchequer, for example. Please.
Answer the question 4:58pm on 19 Jun 2008 You Scots really are not managing to present much of a show at First Minister's Questions, are you? I mean, the leader of the opposition attempts to equate a perfectly normal routine review of a government-funded scheme with an intention to introduce cuts. Really! What an insult to your intelligence.

Not up to Westminster standards, I'm afraid, although Mr Salmond clearly is. Mr Taylor's advice to Ms Alexander on how to deal with him at FMQs is worth its weight in gold but is nevertheless clearly falling on deaf ears.

The Scottish Labour leader is the leader of the main unionist party at Holyrood and yet she, of all the party leaders there, is the one who would fall flat on her face at Westminster, just as she does at Holyrood. What a delicious irony.
Making the case 10:05am on 03 Jun 2008 On the subject of oil reserves, I really do feel that the English interest needs to be considered too, you know, and should not be neglected.

We have always believed in sharing: what's ours is ours, and what's yours is ours too. That's the way to do it. Alternatively, we could toss a coin for it: heads we win; tails you lose.

Rule, Britannia. You know it makes sense.
