Rowers rule but they're still not perfect 8:39pm on 17 Aug 2008 I'm not a rowing fan normally. However, I watch the typical big events as and when they're on and I always watch the Olympic finals.

It is an awesome spectacle of sport. Just look at the faces of all the competitors after they have finished. Utter exhaustion, to the point of barely being able to congratulate team mates. These people have my every respect, win or lose because of the sheer volume of training they put in, but it also, perhaps, demonstrates better than any other sport what the difference between winning and losing can be, physically and emotionally.

Talking of emotion, I don't think you'll find a better comentator than Garry Herbert. You can tell he knows what it means to win when his voice quakes, typically when a GB team are stealing a lead about 200m from the line. Sensory overload at the opening ceremony 9:00pm on 09 Aug 2008 Some people take things too seriously and very often approach them from the wrong angle. I've read Tom Fordyce's (and Ben Dirs etc) blogs for ages and thoroughly enjoy them all. Rugby World Cup, Wimbledon, various football tourneys.

This is because I share the same sense of humour and (most) opinions as Tom. The same goes for the people I call my friends. My point being that we are all different and that some things affect or appeal to us in different ways and we tend to associate with people that react in the same way. If you don't share the same views as Tom or any of the other bloggers, don't complain about it. Find one you like and enjoy it. He is using freedom of speech, something which is sadly losing it's place in the modern world.

Sarah Brightman's chops were definitely moon shaped!!
