GB's have-nots are broke but not broken 6:37pm on 03 Feb 2009 Shooting is NOT a sport and the participants are NOT athletes . Why should we fund ridiculous events like this ?

A gold medal in 10m air pistol is a worthless joke.

Give the money to real athletes.

So fatClyde, what factual evidence do you have to substantiate your assertions? Been an international shooter have you? Understand the physical, technical, tactical and mental demands of the sport? How do they differ from say, Golf?

Or are you just another opinionated bigot pontificating about something you know nothing about?

No-one internationally thinks of Bisley as having good facilities - 99% of the serious players in Olympic shooting have never even been to Bisley, and those involved with international shooting here in the UK don't use the place if they can possibly help it. Munich has excellent facilities (built for the 1972 Olympics), Sydney has excellent facilities, Beijing has excellent facilities, but Bisley does not.

Why do I keep hearing this rubbish? There are no facilities at Bisley suitable for an Olympic Games - those built for the Commonwealth Games in 2002 are not up to international standard, and totally new facilities will have to be built if the Olympics move there.
