Final flourish leaves Lions lamenting what might have been 2:58pm on 05 Jul 2009 Despite not being able to watch the last match of the series, the highlights illustrated just how much class this, let's face it, scratch team has. From the Boks popping up in the first scrum to the try-saving tackle right at the death the boys fronted up in every position when it could have been very easy for them to have dropped their heads after last week's calamity.
Leave the bad blood after the second test, or how close it all was, both team captains and coaches said how special this series has been and they're not wrong. Full on, full pelt and full throttle, fantastic stuff!
I think it is amazing that a team made up of players from four nations can work so well together after so little preparation time. I think this is great testament to the players themselves and to the coaches (Geech especially). You can tell from the interviews that they all have so much respect for each other and do their best for each other, a valuable lesson to many of us I think.
It was wonderful to see and hear the solidarity that both teams demonstrated towards Bakkies Botha and I think this has done something to bury the acrimony that was flying around last week. On that note after verbally bashing him last week I have much increased respect for John Smit for his post match comments. His final comments from that interview should be ringing in the ears of every rugby fan everywhere "If anything should be kept the Lions should be kept." Thanks SA and thank you Lions!
Last stop before the Euros 3:15pm on 28 May 2008 Hi Fletch!

Having visited both those countries here's a couple of things you may want to do (or not!).

Swizterland: - Marvel at the fabulously coloured bank notes that put Monopoly money to shame.
- Play "spot the millionaire" it's supposed to have more per square mile than anywhere else in the world.
- Play giant chess (did this outside a youth hostel in Zurich once)

Austria: - go on a Sound of Music tour, by all accounts worth it if you're into singing nuns.
- visit Mozart's house
- drink Mozart liqueur
- eat Mozart chocolates (spot a theme here?!)

Domestic matters settled, now for the Euros 9:46pm on 27 May 2008 As a half Greek bloke living in a Turkish neighbourhood in Germany I'm thoroughly looking forward to the Euros. Mostly to see if we can do it again (how unbelievable that was!) but also to see top notch football!

There is, however, something I'd like to mention about England not being involved. Yes it is a shame but anyone who watches Premiership football on a regular basis would know that most of the Arsenal team will be playing for France, Liverpool's for Spain and Chelsea's for anyone else; so hey, you're watching English football anyway!:)
