The right qualifications 09:36am on 05 May 2009 Yes, China is the world's largest carbon emitter but in terms of carbon emission per head, the UK is six times larger than China.
Amd maybe one third of the carbon emission released by China is from the factories producing goods for the western consumers

If those who think the Chinese government is perfect are brainwashed by the Chinese media. Then what ADKelly said is exactly an example of those who are brainwashed by some western media such as BBC.

You don't have to imagine but you can see now. I am Chinese and I never refuse to admit the corruption is a huge problem in China. And there are many other problems that might be even worse than corruption.

Also I wonder if they don't admit it in front you how did u manage to find out they complain about it over the dinner to their family? Your imagination?

The point aeroarchie is trying to make is that multi-party elections are not an absolute cure to corruptions, and to many other problems.

We would rather keep the current system, which is working although not perfectly, than having some fake democracy like many countries in the world have.

For China, judicial independence is much more important and needed than the ideology of democracy and the formality of competitive election
Pomp... and ceremony 11:30am on 05 Mar 2009 You are right to the extent that it is a not decision making meeting. And there is no serious debates and arguments. It is in fact more like an implementation process.

But if you take it as a show time or even photo time, you have just showed again that you know too little about China's politics.

Please read what Peston said in his "Super China". He is in China for only one week but I think he made more points

Yes. but don't forget you have a queen, who and other royal family members approach this level quite often, without inviting any ridicule I assume?

Most Chinese would agree with you that in the field of human rights, China is worse than the US.

I assure you that Chinese know their own problems and are working hard to improve. Just like what you Americans have been doing.

However, that doesn't mean the west can always point their fingers at us or even worse use "human rights" as a bargaining power for other purposes.

When you think many Chinese criticizing the west are ignorant, do you know most Chinese would think the same but in the opposite direction? Neither side is absolutely wrong but both need to understand and respect each other.

I personally think unlike many other western countries, the US is great and hopefully is where China is developing into. Long way to go and lots to learn though.
Losing their heads 5:42pm on 25 Feb 2009 It was not the Chinese government who sued to prevent the auction. And even those who initiated the suing didn't ask for the return of the treasure to China but demanded that they should be displayed in a museum rather than being auctioned.

Please get the facts straight!

And please be careful and professional when you use the word "China" because your readers might not know who you refer to.

Of cause most Chinese (if not every) would want the return of the bronzes. Does this surprise you?

If China was as strong and powerful as the US, there might be a chance of getthing them back by purchasing at a reasonable price or more aggressive methods. But now, we have to wait.
