Man Utd determined to join elite club 4:27pm on 08 May 2009 It'll be interesting to see how Barcelona's full-back replacements will cope with Ronaldo, Rooney, etc. Another interesting one will be the midfield battle - everyone expects Sir Alex's men to sit back and try to score on the counter-attack but I've learnt the hard way not to predict Fergie

As tiers go by 4:16pm on 08 May 2009 Newcastle United appear to have been poorly run; their players also don't seem particularly commited (Save Butt, Harper & Jonas) Still it's incredible that a club that brings about forty-thousand fans to every home game is likely to be playing in the Championship next season.

Man Utd give Wenger hope 1:35pm on 30 Apr 2009 The so-called "Professor" Arsene Wenger simply got it tactically wrong on the night. Nasri in a holding midfield position is simply ridiculous; even more so in a game where they lacked drive and incisiveness. Fabregas' new advanced role simply cannot work in a game where you're up against industious midfielders(Anderson, Fletcher) and forwards that chase back(Rooney, Tevez).
Fabregas looked lke a fish out of water and gave the ball away a lot. He (Wenger) should have allowed his Captain drop deep where he could influence the game more, freeing Nasri is a supporting striker role in which he thrives.
Walcott was never going to have any influence on the game once Fergie elected to play Rooney Left Wing Forward. aside from checking Bacary Sagna's advencements down the right; this ploy also effectively double-up on Walcott as Rooney covered 70-80 yards more than 10 times during that game to join Evra in holding off Walcott, who was probably better off on the left where his pace looked more likely to trouble O'shea and Ronaldo was not likely to do much tracking back.
Adebayor didn't stand a chance between Vidic and Rio as he was isolated and simply didn't have enough upper body strength.
It was an excellent team performance from Manchester United, with everybody putting up a great shift - I couldn't believe my eyes when a certain Bulgarian covered 60 yards of space to meke two or three last ditch tackles in the closing stages of that match.
Can't wait to see how Wenger sets up his stall in the return leg.
