Debatably true Yellow, we'll see what revised ONS figures say.

However, which Country's economy has shrunk the most?

Germany? Japan? UK?

If a dear old Aunt leaves me her entire estate of £351000 I will have to pay a wopping £400 to the state, I only get to keep £350600..... poor me.

Any supporter of increasing the IHT threshold even further at the expense of a potential tax reduction on actual "earnings" is taking a misplaced values to new heights.

Then again what do you expect from the Neo Cons!!

As yobrought up the Tory Manifesto you'll also know it said

So that's reward risk taking and less regulation..

Yes John but since then (as I'm sure you know)Cameron promised to match Labour spending for two years, followed NOT by aggressively tackling the debt/deficit but by "sharing the proceeds of growth" ie Tax Cuts.

Actually Fubes, No.

There is some credit(not glory) in what has occurred in the last 12years or so, from personal knowledge I know the level of support to state pensioners has improved tremendously.

As for responsibillity, of course Brown carries responsibillity for the things he IS responsible for eg the 10p fiasco and more.

But I just don't buy this "happened on his watch" means responsible for everything, ite simplistic to the point of purile.

All right Bob, Yes, the pre recession spending on publc Services is now part of the overall debt.

Wasn't it more like £40 billion before the recession?

So Brown was responsible for that very responsible level of debt (far lower than Germany, France, usa and Japanese levels)

Clearly Cameron was also ok with this as he intended to match labour spending.

So yes Brown was "responsible" as above, that was the debt on his watch, lower than those above.

If you want to ignore the cause, thats up to you. I feel the war was caused by Hitler but it happened on Chamberlain's watch so it must be his fault by your philosophy.
