Best moments of Berlin 11:38am on 24 Aug 2009 A great championships in a great venue. The idea of taking the walks and marathons to the city centre was brilliant as well, wish I had gone out to watch it live instead of on TV.

Well done to the British team, especially to Kelly Holmes "daughters" Meadows and Dobriskey. The 2010s for British female middle distance runners could be like the 1980s for British male middle distance runners.

Korea has a hard act to follow. Berlin had a great stadium, a knowledgeable and supportive crowd and a successful host team. Korea didn't have any finishers in the top 8 in any events and apart from some excellent marathon runners Korea doesn't really have a great athletics tradition. It is good that the world championships take place all around the world but will Daegu be the right choice? We will see in 2011.

I fractured my left knee when I tripped up running in 1998. Ended up on crutches for a few weeks then I had to do water running as rehab, one of the most boring activities known to man, the novelty wears off after about 10 seconds :-(

Tracktown USA leaves inspirational impression 9:33pm on 13 Jun 2009 I have been privileged to have competed twice at Hayward Field as a guest competitor at the US masters track and field championships. Hayward Field is easily the best stadium that I have ever competed at. Tracktown is definitely a place apart in the USA.
Onside for England 2018 10:10pm on 19 May 2009 I can't think of anything more dreadful in a sporting context than the football world cup in England any time! The sport already has far too much power and influence, can you imagine how much worse things would get in 2018? I remember being in France in 1998 and there was no escape from the world cup!

Not all sports fans are football fans. Anyway the world cup is coming to this country in 2018, the cricket world cup.
Ask Bearders #181 00:01am on 06 Nov 2008 Sachin Tendulkar made his test debut at the end of 1989 and is still playing for India. I presume he is the last 1980s debutant still playing international cricket.

Who were the last players to retire who had mad their debuts in the 1970s, 1960s etc.?
Kiwis take heart from battling draw 6:47pm on 19 May 2008 The Lords test which has just concluded contained 3 players who were sons of former test players. Redmond of NZ and Broad and Sidebottom of Eng.

Has such a combination ever happened before? Did the Dayle and Richard Hadlee ever play against Majid Khan or another son of a former test player?
