Benitez must blank out Ferguson 12:32pm on 19 May 2009 By congratulating Ferguson Benitez would have cut his losses for this season, admitted that he lost, which he did, and prepared for next season.

What we have now is like picking a fight with a kid at school, getting beaten, and sure you may hit a few punches along the way but in the end its whos standing in the end that counts, and then continuing to run your mouth.

In the end, no matter what has been said and what has happened Ferguson beat Benitez. The league table shows that. No matter what Benitez says, no matter what Liverpool fans say, Manchester United won and Liverpool lost.

A line would have been drawn under the season and Benitez could have prepared for the next one, instead his comments could undermime his preperations for next season.

The lack of praise he has got, and along with that the lack of England call ups has been shocking.
