Sacred ceremony ends Beijing Games 03:33am on 28 Aug 2008 I've noticed that some are not happy with the commentaries here by Chinese readers. Yes they feel offended and defensive towards James' remarks and bite back. Isn't it normal? While you judge others and they judge back? Do you expect people to nod at what they do not like at all?

Sorry thing is this blog is swept with Chinese. Do not forget they do not represent Chinese people, but only the portion of Chinese who cares and reads BBC.

The closing ceremony is a mess. Beckham's kicking is unintelligible. Songs sung were stupid, with some hint of one night stand invitation.

the 'sacret fire' was put out by 'turning off the gas valve'. He is honest this time.

Chinese calling the torch 'sacret fire' is not because the fire is sacret, but we need to have a double syllable word ( two charactors). 'fire' in chinese is single syllable so we need to add an adjective to it. it is all simple.

and, the biggest topic of the night is not beckham, but Australian WNBA player hugging Yao Ming. People are saying that Yao will be punished by his wife back home.

I love London though. Good luck London.

It is the last day of Olympics, eventually.

As our dear journalists critisizing China, it seems that they also forget it is just a game.

I love this game.

Beijing is not bad. The climate has been nice and cool, except the day of opening ceremony.

Sorry for the noise made by spectators.

Chinese's favorate athlete is Shawn Johnson from US. Smiling is international passport.

China gets more gold medals then the previous Olympic, partially because it is the host country. Don't pretend to be shocked or hurt, it is your old tricks! you know it!

perhaps BBC website will be blocked
again but I don't miss it, for now UK media is so out, just like Chinese media in the 90s.

Hope you enjoy the food in Olympic village. Good luck to London and I wish our athletes could be properly fed there.
Opening ceremony cool - for some 4:16pm on 11 Aug 2008 I did not find the air conditioner under seat any offending. I like this little tip. some Chinese overreact perhaps because they are used to be defending in this blog.

seriously I do not like the ceremony that much, and I think the Greek one was better--maybe I am not civilized enough.

The tibetan friend here, I read that CCP killed millions of tibetan in the 50s, and anoter version is a few thousand everyday. It is amazing that we did not run out of tibetan and the population expands considerably. they are not qualified tibetans, according to you?

A few words about minorities. I am half Mogolian but was asigned the identity of Han at birth for my parents thought that would do me good--be majority. however, nowadays people are trying to have an identity of minority for it brings a lot of priorities.
I visit Yanbian recently (korean region), there korean couple will be fined 3000RMB for not having a child and 5000 will be rewarded to them for a second child and 8000 a third.
Do not say that minority is surpressed, OK? they are not treated equally because they have priorities!
Opening ceremony cool - for some 04:24am on 10 Aug 2008 For me the openning ceremony is just so so as we expected, that is what Zhang Yimo would bring out, we all know it.

If any of the foreign friends do not quite understand what it is about, do no worry, for many Chinese do not either.

there is one thing I believe London will surpass Beijing. the tempreture. A jacket will do to deal with the weather rather than a fan. It was really hot and I am sorry for the top leaders in suits.

Beijing is misty and hot today. it is the 8.8.2008, 32 centigrade. a very lucky date.

citizens in Beijing get one day off. everybody, including those cynical Chinese who mock the Gov and Zhangyimo all the time are looking forward to eight oclock. I tried to invite some friends to Casino but no one will go, for they don't want to miss the broadcast of openning ceremony.

there will be 29 firework places all over Beijing, to memorize the 29th Olympics.

The torch is passed around and people are happy.

I decide not to complain. We were once jealous of the foreign guests-athletes and reporters. Chinese are doing so hard to be hospitable where some people are so fussy. some are unhappy with the cheap price of meals for reporters, one dollar buffet, for it is a waste of tax payer's money. BBC has a huge delegation there, more than 200 people, I am told, are they here for lunches?

I know some people are not happy that 80 top leaders are here. They will be disappointed when China has something good. unfortunately they will be hauted by this bad feeling for a long time.

Dear world, China is not your enemy. Bad air quality and embrassed Chinese won't make your life any better. you have to learn to sleep with a stronger China.
Freedom in China 07:52am on 05 Aug 2008 When I was in France, oneday I saw a TV program concerning Beckham and his maids. by the end the commentator made a remark: in France, the media does not have liberty to report such things.

Different people have different understanding of freedom, and the extend of freedom. It is true that UK seems to enjoy more freedom than any other nations and more teen mothers and sex scandals on newspaper.

In China citizen has less freedom in politics. That's for sure. But what you are talking about is a very shallow topic. I have to question the quality of BBC, seriously. this seems to be a question raised by a high school boy.

We like freedom. and we definately know that no international human right organization really cares about the rights of ordinary Chinese people, unless they commits a crime or flees overseas for corruption.

And I wish those savior organizations and just reporters would realize that mocking a nation by drawing silly conlusions is also violation of human right
Unblocking websites 02:12am on 01 Aug 2008 It is very silly of the Chinese Gov to block those websites, which makes the majority fail to know that the outside medias are just as stupid. To certain extend the Chinese Gov is protecting the west.

Do you know why there is an 'anti-CNN' website created by a young man? He had an illusion for western system, media and people, and, he was disillusioned.

In China, those who has never live abroad or has access to overseas information has more complaints. They do no have opportunitis to read the biased, unsophisticated and smug world.

situation is changing from this year on, starting from the torch. The authority failed to deliver the right imformation and right reaction while the ordinary people did. the overseas chinese (including myself, i was in Switzerland at the moment) told the people what happened and the lies told by mainstream medias.

Unblocking those websites will make people love their country better. It is true that the Gov considers the people as children, fearing that they will be affected by unproper information. It is all wrong.

Although, the reality tells us that people with free access to all sources still choose what they use to believe, and have not shown any smarter than befooled us.

I think some people in the Gov have realized this and that's why they unblocked BBC website.

Millions of Chinese adopt the 'main stream west thinking' including myself, and most Chinese who post here( otherwise they won't bother to read this silly BBC website).

Now I realize we are regarded as enemies. Yes, but it won't change anything. Some nation goes on deteriorating and aging, what they could no is merely mocking the emerging and pretend to be superior.

thirty years in China I could not tell what the Chinese think.

It is true many Chinese like Mr. Hu.(he even has a lot of fans on internet), although I could not say if most people do. It is not for no reason. the fact is our former leader, Mr. Jiang, is the target of mocking by Chinese people, especially his silly attitude towards the west.

Mr. Hu is a traditional positive figure in Chinese culture" serious, sober and temperate.

In every country you might happen to have a lovely top man, isn't it?

apart from olympic and so on, the most important policy during Hu era is farmer's benefits improvements. This, will not interest the west. for the western people tend to care about human right of terrorists and corrupted officers in China instead of the ordinary citizens, and that is why we no longer trust the once sacret BBC.
