The point you may be missing is - ICC gets 80% of its funds from BCCI, so BCCI is more like a majority shareholder and IPL is their baby so no question about ICC jumpting in bed. If BCCI were not that strict with ICL - which is backed by one of the richest man in the continent with his own media empire - this threaten the very structure of ICC and BCCI - imagine if ICL had succeeded in Indian market - huge reduction in BCCI and ICC revenues. I think what BCCI is doing with ICL is only common sense, and i dont get why it is so difficult to understand

Agree with your argument on Monty’s exclusion which may be right –but here’s the issue..there always seems to be an alternative justification ....but if you were ethnic minority yourself, this would make a bit more sense because it happens far more often than not

Now keep an open mind to this –

Do you think under Vaughan or Colly’s captaincy..you would have ever seen Samit patel breaking into the first team so quickly? Or have Shah given the chances like he is getting now..? I doubt it. You may disagree, or agree but have different reasoning for it. i have been in unfortunate position to have seen a lot. I think KP’s South African descent is very good for English cricket, for more than one reason…

I couldn’t agree more with India Knight’s article below. But having said that, not all are same… so apologies if I may have crossed the line in my earlier post

Taxis extend a very Mumbai welcome 12:29pm on 11 Nov 2008 Alison, i do understand what you meant about smell..but also understand what Kash meant to say. people like Kash, and myself for instance being half indian, hate the fact that most media concentrate on 'smell...showing all the poverty they can..and bbc can win awards on that' - take the laughable Paul Merton...he takes the mick out of all indian hospitality..

india is a developing country....and is engulfed with these problems. lets show some good parts of india..i visited mumbai last year..and was surprised of how quickly it is developing..there are many good sides that never find space on bbc. but apart from that, i liked ur blog..keep up the good wrk

dont worry about comments from CHARDINHO and MODSTAKE, these guys would always find it difficult to digest ex-colonies doing well - and unfortunately for that very reason, you will always get stick from similar quarters..

its amazing 50 yrs since Raj ended but there's enough superiority complex remains in the blood. Remember early days of Monty..born and bred in England......would an english bowler with blonde hair with similar stats have struggled as much to get into first team? remember in Australia how they kept him out...untill he was sort of 'forced in' by outcry from media..

I personally dont think india did all that . they beat a weak Aussie team in their own backyard..real test will be to perform overseas. but for the moment, i will enjoy them doing well..

When you talk about Greedy people, the fact is, it is money that promotes every show. In Economics, behind every successful venture, capital is of extreme importance. In your own job,if you get a 200% pay-rise for working in a different organisation, the chances are, you will accept it. I have managed to catch some matches of IPL, and I can tell you it has been very entertaining.

The only problem with us English is, we dont want to accept it (as Shane Warne and Peter Roebuck said in thier articles). The truth is, when ECB comes up with a similar T20 competition, the grounds will be flooded with these so called cricket purists who seem to 'loathe' IPL concept. There is no evidence that T20 will hurt Test cricket. and if Test cricket does need protection, then I think it should not really be saved. Let the public decide what they want and not force our purist views on others.
