A singer/songwriter I never knew of but one I will endeavour to listen to and find out more.
The Demon Barbers - Simply Fantastic 6:26pm on 28 Nov 2009 Imho the Demon Barbers never fail to engage the whole age range of their audiences. Have seen them many time now and last month at Derby Festival (put that one in your diary for next year Mike campavan parking is catered for) they had the Morris/Rapper dance sides in the audience out on the dance floor doing their thing to lots of the DB songs ~ real audience participation and that includes some of us of a certain age too.

Kate Rusby on Christmas and Carols in Yorkshire 6:01pm on 28 Nov 2009 Wonderful memories of these carols from when we lived in Sheffield. They are as much a part of my Christmas listening now as is Christmas Champions the Hugh Lupton, Chris Wood & English Acoustic Collection's Play and the Lessons and Carols from Kings on Christmas Eve, which have been an inherited family ritual every year for a long as I remember.

The recording English Village Carols: Traditional Christmas Carolling from the Southern Pennines is now available to those that have access to the (free with ads) online listening service Spotify thanks to Smithsonian Folkways making what looks like their entire recorded album resource available on there.

Chris Watson's rook soundscape 1:08pm on 27 Nov 2009 These are amazing recordings, as is all of Chris Watson's work. Without headphones, but through my HK Sound Sticks, it's not just the calls that astound but what appears to be the twig snap leaf rustle wing flap movements of the birds in the foliage at the end. Playing this loudly with open windows in the daytime certainly causes consternation at my garden bird feeding station!
Turning the tables: Digital Revolution interviewed by the interviewees 4:00pm on 23 Nov 2009 Simplistical, but maybe it makes for a digitally revolutionary view as in a 360° visual and sound capture of the moment - thinks the eyes & ears of a fly on the wall. (or maybe I've indulged in a bit too much @bbcautumnwatch these past few weeks ;)
My album cover cue cards 3:29pm on 20 Nov 2009 For enlightenment on some of the music that slipped me by over those decades many thanks Chris. Interesting how just the visual clue or the first few notes immediately start the music in ones head whatever the genre.

Btw have you discovered the fun of flicking thro' someone else's iTunes album covers, yes they're all still available digitally, and trying to ID them - a sort of on screen 'snap'.

Telepathic literary - ummm best go raid the Zombie library for starters .........

Why I enjoy watching rather than picking fungi 3:11pm on 12 Nov 2009 Likewise I look but don't take. Not out of fear from mistaking but in order to let Nature complete the food/life cycle. I find the fascination is watching this progress through the seasons in places one knows well. The same applies to flowers, plants and all living things ...... my garden holds the 'rich pickings' I need with plenty of surplus for visiting & resident wildlife.
