Next stop London 4:08pm on 26 Aug 2008 Some people seem to be missing the point in regards to biased sport overage. I think there is a fine line and it's an important issue but the BBC IS A BRITISH BROADCASTER. As such, in the British public's interest that there will ofc ourse be more focus on Team GB.

Perhaps this we too much at certain times but, although I think it's great when non-brits watch BBC coverage, they are not in a position to question GB loyalty. I wouldn't expect Channel 7 not to have a leaning toward the Australian team. The BBC is our national broadcaster.
Next stop London 3:58pm on 26 Aug 2008 One of the highlights of the coverage for me this year has been the web content and video available.

I really hope this continues and is expanded for 2012 as it really makes the BBC stand out as a world leader. Making use of the Red Button has also been fantastic, licence fee well spent.

As a young person who values online and interactive media hightly I think It's so important and the BBC lead in this way. Well done.
Not quite what we thought 10:11am on 13 Aug 2008 The opening ceremony was indeed spectacular and very enjoyable.

I don’t think we can compare the fakery with the likes of Hollywood and Bollywood. In these circumstances we anticipate and pay for something we know is unrealistic, generated and often unnatural.

I believe the Olympics should be transparent and although I don’t have so much of an issue with the faux elements, the fact that the Chinese committees would have happily sat back and kept hush huh until the cat was let out of the bag seems pretty dishonets.

By the way, as commented on before, many of the Fireworks at the start were computer generated which is such a shame and really shatters some of the illusion for me. And yes it does matter! China has responded with it being in the “countries interest” but I’m not sure if it wasn’t in their better interest to avoid this in the first place.

Still the Olympic go on. A great world event in a stunning, if not controversial country.

As usual, less of the BBC bashing please?
BPI v ISPs - who's won on music piracy? 10:43am on 24 Jul 2008 There seems to be an ongoing theme here and it's one which I totally agree with. The record companies (and the BPI as their mouthpiece) rip of consumers. They're set the higher cost for music in the UK for many years but with the internet with have access to a free market with consumer choice. If other industries tried to lock down their sales as the BPI have there would be national outcry but for some reason it's accepted.

I don't agree with illegally downloading music and am tired of the same lame excuses trying to justify it, but I honestly can't blame those who resent paying high prices per track/cd than the rest of the world. The BPI hasn't addressed this to my knowledge and blames anyone but themselves for the problem.
No defence for 'stealing' music 10:54am on 03 Jul 2008 It's interesting reading general opinion on this blog and many others across the web where many view the Music Industry with distain attempting to justify their illegal downloading habits.

Yes record companies may be greedy, yes they may need to rethink their methods for future markets and distribution. Maybe they've already missed the boat but stealing music, both physically or digital copying is simply not legal or moral. We’ve developed a global culture which suggests consumers are the victims and so are entitled to only pay what we want for music. This simple doesn’t work as proven by recent experiments and can only be detrimental to artists we steal from.

Nowadays I use iTunes. It has its faults but there are many new alternatives offering DRM free tracks. More competition can only be better for consumers.

I’m tired of hearing the same excuses. I myself have downloaded illegally in the past, mainly when Kazza and Audio Galaxy were in full swing with all my peers were doing the same. It was normal. I still have friends who laugh at the idea of me actually paying money for music, but I find that sad. Why do people think it’s perfectly normal and acceptable? It reminds me of that rather annoying anti-piracy ad shown on the start of many dvd’s. You wouldn’t walk into HMV and steel a single so why is it different online.

I personally think it’s because it’s simple, it’s easy and people know they can get away with it without getting caught. I don’t applaud invasion of piracy or ISPs withdrawing service but there is no doubt that something needs to be done for people to take illegally downloading music seriously.
Hands on with iPhone 3G 10:22am on 10 Jun 2008 As usual there are the same users chirping on about free Apple publicity without actually taking an unbiased view into how news worthy a story is. Apple are a key technological player in the consumer market with devices which have changed the way we use music and potential our phones.

I would be very surprised if the BBC didn't cover these stores at one of the key events in the Apple calendar. There are 11 more months of the year to report on Nokia, Google and Microsoft's offerings which the BBC also covers. Quite simply, if people want to know about it, the BBC cover it. It you don't care so much, don't click it! Just stop complaining and stalling constructive discussion.
