I've been concerned about your impartiality recently, but have just watched your interrogation of Broon about having his troosers doon and you have restored my faith in your ability to get to the root of the problem.

Let's have more of this level of challenge of the ruling party.

Can you also pick up on the public disgust at the behaviour of the Speaker who is a total disgrace?

The government sets the level of State Pension paid to OAP singles or couples.

Since they believe that is enough to pay for rent, council tax,
gas, electricity, phone, TV, food, clothing, car, petrol, holidays, birthday presents etc. etc., let's ask them to live off that same allowance in London.

Then we might see some justice for our senior citizens!
From unthinkable to unavoidable 8:29pm on 12 May 2009 I think those of you complaining about Cameron claiming the full allowance for his second home mortgage payments are missing the point. It is fair to pay MPs outside London expenses for a second home as long as they do not claim for all the other stuff like bath plugs, porn films patio heaters, pool cleaning horse manure etc., which is exactly what he promised was being stamped out from today. Any house in London is likely to require more than the maximum payment available for mortgage payments so he is not being unreasonable.

Of course, Broon, caught again with his troosers doon, has made no such commitment, so the Cabinet can continue filling their boots at our expense until Kelly finally works out how to stop this.

As for Martin, the man is a disgrace and and an embarrassment to High Office and must go TOMORROW!
PMQs row over Baby P 7:11pm on 12 Nov 2008 Nick, you're obviously miffed at Brand and Ross getting all the attention at the Beeb so came up with this ridiculous analysis of events.

The only positive news for Labour in all of this was John Cruddas's which shows they just might avoid slipping into oblivion after the next election if he can find some supporters from his party who also show some honesty.

As for Brown, I look forward to seeing you and him holding hands on the way to the Job Centre. You deserve each other.

Finally, why is the moderation of comments so slow? Are the Beeb worried about criticism of your misjudged analysis?

Which blogs do you find better informed than Nick's? I must agree that Nick does seem to pay little notice to the comments posted so it's a pretty limited channel of communication.
By-election reactions 5:03pm on 23 May 2008 I think this is the best set of comments I have seen on this blog. Some excellent comments have been made from people on both sides of the divide.

Surely it illustrates that we are all feeling the same, even though we might prefer different ways out of the mess?

I totally agree with #8 about the difference between Cameron's ability to talk naturally about what's happening and Brown's capacity to lecture us on what we are feeling. His pathetic lieutenants also insist on trotting out the latest party line. During the BBc coverage of the election early this morning, Bryant said 3 times "I make no bones about this result" and guess what? Horrible Harriet trotted out the same phrase on the BBC Braekfast program this morning. There's no point in listening to them as they have nothing to say which relates to the real situation.

I don't believe Labour have been humiliated because we are most concerned about fuel prices, food prices, mortgages etc. We would have the same problems if the Tories were in power.

The real problems are that Labour has betrayed us on all the issues listed throughout this blog but still cannot face up to that fact and have robbed the cupboard bare so are left with no wriggle room now that times have got harder. because of all the
A political emergency 10:27pm on 13 May 2008 This site is proving to be a total waste of time. I have been waiting well over 3 hours to see an earlier comment "moderated" and my latest comments have been "awaiting moderation" for more than 30 minutes - where is the spontaneity?
A political emergency 9:55pm on 13 May 2008 I can only assume that the delay of more than 2.5 hours in "moderating" my comments at 7:13 this evening means the "moderators" have had to refer it to the BBC's lawyers.

I acknowledged Kiwilegs's criticism of the last Conservative government but tried to pint out NuLabour were no better - the details obviously didn't go down well with the "moderators", though I'm sure I said nothing which hasn't already been said in the national newspapers about this corrupt government.

bring_on_2010, you make the most valid point of the day - more people will pay 40% tax and we STILL need to boorow more money. Darling has already been criticised by the EU for breaking borrowing rules but as we're not in the Eurozone, they can't punish him, so he'll punish the taxpayers instead.

I totally agree. Brown tried to slip this deceit in as part of his last budget as chancellor in order to get a couple of days' headlines on cutting basic rate, but anyone with half a brain could see the impact this would have on low earners.

Unfortunately for Brown, that group doesn't include any Labour ministers.
