Obama in Berlin 9:33pm on 26 Jul 2008 Hello Justin.

I've been enjoying the writing and the comments. I was wondering if you could please fill us in on Obama's 'team', e.g. the old Clintonites like Madeline Albright.

Personally, I find this a big negative and am curious as to how many of 'these people' are now key players in the Obama campaign. It might also be helpful to discuss if Obama has sold out to the Clintons, or has 'bought' them, or a combination of the two.

Is rail the answer? 11:11pm on 09 Jul 2008 I grew up in Philadelphia and rode trolley cars to school. Public transport was a way of life. Even weekends, when I was a teen, meant a trolley or train ride into other parts of the city. My husband grew up in NYC, and didn't learn to drive until he was in his 30's, and we were living in Ohio.

Those of us who grew up in 'old' US cities took public transport for granted.

Even here in Scotland, where we could be putting in rail services, all we do is build bypasses. It's mad. It's not an American thing. It is the status of a car that's the problem. I stick out because I neither own one, nor want one. Perhaps our MP's and MSP's should start using public transport instead of cars to set an example!
Republicans in trouble 7:01pm on 14 Jun 2008 Oh dear. Texas is looking foolish... again. Of course, I thought it was foolish when Hillary took the state primary. I wouldn't worry about Mr. Hurt. Kerrville is also the home of Kinky Friedman.

And, Texas is a big state. People with such bizarre and extreme views tend not to carry too much weight. Still, it's sad that such a wonderful place always seems to present such an awful side to the public.

Justin, I wanted to share the 'Hillary as Hitler' weblink with a friend. Seems you can't access it anymore. It sends you to YouTube with the comment, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Constantin Film Produktion GmbH ". Can you or anyone else tell me what this means?

I am always amazed how folks in the UK think the electoral college is 'unfair'.

The beauty of the electoral college is that it guarantees that states like California and New York, with heavy populations in their cities, don't dominate an election.

States like Montana, or Nevada as examples, are big in terms of space, but small in terms of population. Hence, the electoral college guarantees states like these equal representation.

It's extremely clever and needs to stay in place. I wouldn't want everything determined from L.A. or NYC.

Now, as to short term obsession, who are the vice presidential running mates going to be?

I just hope Hillary goes away, even if it means she's in the Senate for a long time. Her power, as people keep going on about, eludes me. Power from what? Being married to Bill Clinton? And why is everyone expected to 'feel her pain'? Would this be the case if she was a 'he'?

On Women's Hour, this morning, two Clinton supporters gushed at the idea of Hillary as VP. In particular, their dream was that as a result, she could slide into the White House more easily in 2012. Save us!

The finale on the program was the comment that Chelsea Clinton is being groomed to follow mommy and daddy. Now that is scary. Then again, Bill always wanted to be the next JFK. Dream on.

What's next? 2:27pm on 04 Jun 2008 Thanks, Justin, for Dana Milbanks piece. It seems Hillary's concession comes with a price, i.e. pay my debts and make me vice-president.

Obama had best stick to his motto of voting for a change, and stay as far away from Clinton as he can. She keeps being raised to levels beyond conceivable reality. As a junior senator, one of her people described her as the most powerfu woman in the Senate because she's from NY state. Who allows this to happen? The media is the message?

Must Obama be compelled to 'feel Hillary's pain'? What is this nonsense about 'healing the party'? Get on with it. Hard core Democrats will still vote Democrat no matter who runs. However, thinking people will again look at their choices.

I will not choose a candidate that panders to the Clintons. Shame really. I've been for Obama a very long time.
It's over... soon 00:34am on 04 Jun 2008 I sincerely hope that the Clintons [Bill and Hillary] put their foot in it and lose status with the Democratic Party. Bill Clinton seems to be off to a grand start with his little speech about the press being out to get them. Keep it up, Bill.

As to Hillary, 'I'll be the VP.', the arrogance of this woman is incredible. I will be surprised/disappointed if Mr. Obama kowtows to her in any way. I expect Ted Kennedy will be having a talk to him soon.

If Barack Obama does take Clinton[s] on, I then go over to McCain as I simply do not want Clinton in any way, shape or form. This is after being for Mr. Obama for a very long time, and contributing time and money.

However, it wil be interesting to see how the percentages work out. I expect Mrs. Clinton will still be crowing about the popular vote. I then expect her to say that Mr. Obama can't win without her. The way I see it, he can't win with her.

And, it looks like Governor Schweitzers dog, Jag, likes Mr. Obama after all.

Big Sky state - big ambitions 1:34pm on 03 Jun 2008 Thanks for the connection to the superdelegates, That was quite interesting. I can't remember superdelegates when we lived in the United States, in the 1980's. Does anyone know when and why the Democrats started this process?

Governor Schweitzer is probably not as 'goofy' as he'd like people to think. That was a very strange interview with a 'foreign' correspondent. His mind is made up, and I'd 'put money on it'.

But, unlike Justin, I think this is going to go on and on and on. I hope he's right, and I'm wrong.
