Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 11:43am on 02 Dec 2009 @459 Joinfreesat is essentially a 'fan' site run by a nice chap called Ian. Of course his answer is almost certainly correct.

There's a poll on there at the moment showing 60% of respondents believe BBC HD PQ has dropped. Such negativity on a 'fan' site is not good for either BBC HD or Freesat. With little publicity, Freesat needs word of mouth for promotion.

But it is I suppose just a bunch of 'geeks'.

Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 7:16pm on 30 Nov 2009 @404 Because of snooker, there is no Top Gear on December 13. BBC HD quite rightly IMO have decided to simulcast the new two part major drama series, Small Island.

It would have been clumsy not simulcasting the first episode, when they would have no problem with episode two.

Mind you, on the Preview Loop the PQ of Small Island looks decidedly dodgy!!

Why can't you wait 'til later? Garrow's Law viewers had to.
Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 9:00pm on 28 Nov 2009 E4HD has started testing on a Sky transponder. At least we know if Sky are doing it the PQ will be good.

I'd love it if Sky could broadcast BBC HD for a day, just to see how good it could be.

There is something seriously wrong. Last night's Beautiful People, was a shadow of its former self. So soft and blurry. It's very sad.
Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 9:33pm on 27 Nov 2009 On Tuesday December 8, BBCHD starts a rerun of the excellent Steve Coogan drama, Sunshine.

This programme was picture perfect on its first two showings. It will be a good test.

Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 8:43pm on 27 Nov 2009 Just watched last night's Gavin & Stacey. After the first two series and last year's Christmas special which were picture perfect, last night's was really poor.

How can the picture quality deteriorate so much? Surely it's more than just a bitrate cut?
Points of View and HD Picture Quality: a response 10:35am on 23 Nov 2009 I watched Beautiful People and the PQ was just not up to the standard of season one. It was just too soft. Even had a glance at Green Grass and for a programme that's only redeeming feature is the quality of its HD it was poor too.

I hope Gavin & Stacey will be good, the first two seasons and last year's Christmas special were excellent PQ.

If anyone has Sky and wants to see an example of 5 star HD PQ, take a look at Angela and Friends on Sky 1 (it's on a couple of times a day).

It is picture perfect. It's like they're in the room with you, such natural colours with no grain or saturation and excellent detail.

Why can't the BBC do HD as good as Sky?
