The Speaker, Damian Green and warrants. 9:08pm on 03 Dec 2008 Wonderful interview with Harriet Harman and, no, neither Eddie or the audience had the wrong end of the stick regarding the leak of papers by her sister.
Serious questions to answer 6:20pm on 03 Dec 2008 It is my understanding that the position and responsibilities of the Sergeant-at-arms were scaled back at the time of Jill Pay’s appointment. So far as I understand matters, she is responsible for the security of the Commons’ chamber only. If that is correct, what right did she have to give permission for the searching of Damien Green’s parliamentary rooms? Surely, that was a matter for which only the Speaker could give permission?
Victory follows arm-twisting and cajoling 00:28am on 12 Jun 2008 It simply beggars belief that this was ever a matter of principle. The Government started this ball rolling last year when it was still popular. It was intended to paint the Tories as weak on terrorism.

How the wheel has turned. Brown's weakness is confirmed again. He cannot win the argument on the evidence or enforce his will through the whips.

The victory was undoutedly bought with taxpayer's money and with quiet deals. This does not smack of principle, only of political necessity.

What deals will have to be done when the Bill returns from the Lords? How much will it cost the country then?
Crewe-sing for a bruising 11:53pm on 22 May 2008 The idea of this Government "listening" is much like Tony Blair "taking responsibility"... it is a naked attempt to take the sting out of the headline, rather than deal with the underlying substantive issues.
Team tactics 09:45am on 13 May 2008 The obvious difference is that Chelsea actually has some talented players and the cabinet is full of minows. In fact, even the comparison is flattering!
