Nick Griffin on Question Time 5:38pm on 24 Oct 2009 Seemed like standard Question Time to me. If Nick Griffin was expecting to go on the show and talk about Postal Strikes, Afghanistan, and the Recession he has clearly never seen the show. David Dimbleby has never let guests get away with contradicting themselves to pander to the audience or the populist view and always has quotes to prove his point, this time was no different.

If he wanted to do an interview where he could avoid answering for him and his parties racist and homophobic views perhaps he should have arranged an interview with GMTV!
N is for networking 12:44pm on 30 Mar 2009 I've had wireless since 2001 cost a princely sum for an SMC router and wireless card but a pleasure to use. Never been without it since

1. Never use WEP for anything. It's cracked and broken.

2. As has been said don't read the instructions first. They are usually translations of translations and apply to a firmware from 3 years prior

3. Homeplugs are great, really great, have a couple at home for media streaming, perfectly behaved and near LAN speeds without irritating signal loss.

4. If you want real pain get two Windows 98 SE PCs and try and connect them together with a twisted pair ethernet cable, I gave up after 6 weeks.

I am aware you can subscribe to them but I think there would be way too many to keep up with on a daily basis, and quite a few would be of (no offence) no interest to me.

I mostly read DigitalSpy, while not exactly official BBC forums, the blogs here often reference their forums, so clearly they read what's posted there. Sky also read and post occasionally. Also I like the fact that if I've just watched a great episode of a TV show on Sky+ or iPlayer at 3am I can jump on the DS forums and hit out a reply and get instant feedback I don't have to wait around for a moderator to come in to work in the morning.

I don't think I'd feel any closer to the BBCs beating heart by posting on the BBC Forums than I would on DS, or anywhere else.
Points Of View Message Board 3: Football or Rugby? 3:41pm on 18 Dec 2008 If the POV forums are anything like the Broadcasting forums on DigitalSpy I'm not surprised few official staff want to wade in. They only end up getting jumped on, just like Nick is here.

Then again I don't like the BBC forums for reasons already mentioned, I assume we still have 'opening hours' a ludicrous thing in this day and age, plus the design is alien compared to all the major Message Board providers.

I like the blogs, because I'm subbed to them all in Google Reader and can read them if they are interesting or scroll on by if they aren't, I don't have to go out of my way to find them.
Open and shut case? 11:43pm on 30 Oct 2008 Absolute madness, the anti-BBC press jump all over the story, then the BBC make themselves a noose and throw it over their own necks.

Four things have come from this mess:

1. A career BBC employee has been forced from her job as a sacrifice to the complaining masses.

2. Brand has had to resign.

3. Ross gets three months extra holiday.

4. This Georgina woman has just gone on the short-list for the next Celebrity Big Brother / I'm a Celebrity.
Phone apps - open or closed? 7:19pm on 10 Jul 2008 Yer BBC you are always so anti-Apple! ;)

I've already got a couple of free apps downloaded, I wanted eReader because I used to buy books from them until I threw my Windows Mobile device in a draw in frustration a few years ago. I've also seen that a lot of the Windows Mobile programs I used to use are being done for the iPhone which will be useful.

Main issue I have with the App Store so far is the lack of demos and no direct videos to see how the apps work. That and the fact I'm still waiting for 2.0 for my iPod Touch.

BBC iPlayer 2.0: Sneak Preview 12:37pm on 25 Jun 2008 Increased screen size is very good news.

Two things I would like to see:

1. An iPhone/iPod touch interface, similar to the BBC Podcasts that is already available

2. I'm a dual screen user at home and would like to be able to stream iPlayer on one screen in full screen mode. At the moment if I click on anything in another screen it drops out of full screen mode.

I also hope that the new Radio iPlayer drops the annoying "Skip 5 mins" and "Skip 15 mins" and we can scan around at will. I found it so annoying listening again to the Chris Moyles show that I stripped the RealPlayer url out of the current Radio Player page and play it straight from RealPlayer where I can listen to it how I want.

As for the site. I do wonder if these kind of sites don't just fill up with reviews from people who have axes to grind against former employers.

Full Feeds For BBC Blogs 7:20pm on 13 Jun 2008 Good news, but what about the News pages?

Considering the BBC News pages aren't ad supported I find it odd that they don't include the full article, especially when sites like Gizmodo and Engadget include the whole article and still rely on clickthroughs for the ad revenue
