Second race cruel on Weir 07:43am on 14 Sep 2008 My understanding is that Kurt was not the only competitor in the wrong lane, and that many of the competitors would have choosen lane 2 to start from. Also if you were David would you have slept last night, come on they know he has been ill, and then to deprive him of a nights sleep whilst deciding to do the right thing is real good of Kurt

What are the Stats for people winning from lane 2 in the 800 compared to lane Kurt was supposed to be in. Which lane would most competitors wish to be in?

It is a major thing for any athlete to compete in more than one event, ask any of the cyclists/swimmers.

Yes he was in great shape when he left the UK, not ill at all, you yourself had said other athlethes had trouble keeping up with him before the start of the games. David said he was doing the winning time on a slower track in training before he left, so yes he must have been in great shape.

The BBC commentator who interviewed him even said he looked ill.

Yes the chinese guy was good and if David had been well it might have been a closer race, and gone either way but to do as well as he did, while sick.

What if he has competed when he really shouldn't have because it was the final, we do not know, I am sure if he was on death's door he would wish to race, and do his best.

Paralympic countdown begins in Manchester 10:16pm on 06 May 2008 I have read with great interest your articles on the World Cup event in Manchester and the importance of this event "In other years many athletes are willing to shift their competition programme around to fit in the events that give profile and support. However it appears that many of our Wheelchair athletes are competing the day before and then having to drive 170 miles to get to Manchester, I am not sure how they expect athletes to perform well at both events. As the world's focus is on the World Cup I am not sure how the UK Paralympic associations can possibly consider this to be satisfactory, I cant imagine any other athletes finding this acceptable.
