Getting angry 9:54pm on 10 Oct 2008 I'm a registered Republican woman from Indiana of a "certain age" and while I may not despise McCain with the vigor you are describing, I certainly do not respect him anymore. And I do despise Sarah Palin, I am no fan of Hillary's but thought her use of Hillary and the Republicans' outrage that anyone who questions Palin is a sexist is very offensive. I hold the Republicans responsible for ruining our economy and respect for our government (both inside the US and abroad). Both sides are hypocrites, but right now the Republicans far outweigh the Dems on my scale. Palin wants no taxes, yet complains that Dems don't want body armor for her son. She should check her fellow repubs votes on health care, education benes and equipment for the troops. How does she think that stuff gets paid for, by the war fairy?
Not finding the votes 2:23pm on 02 Jun 2008 I am a 58 yr old white woman from the Midwest who does not support Hillary. I too have experienced sexism, but whining about it and thinking that it entitles you are not the right answer. She only started this whining after Obama started beating her. Then they attribute his wins to race, yet claim he can't win general elections because of racism. The footage of the Hillary supporter crying outside the rules committee and how unfair it was illustrates my point. FL and MI broke the rules, no candidate should have been on the ballots there and to complain that she get all the votes because Obama respected the rules, shows how little she thinks of the rules. She voted for the war, didn't question, was on many committees where her voice was not raised. Her gas tax proposal (piling on with McCain) was ridiculous and dangerous, catering to the lease educated (and crowing about it) I am one of those highly educated for Obama and I'm not black. I too want universal health care, but didn't see her doing anything to advance this from her Senate seat. I believe getting out of Iraq is a priority before we can consider our monumental problems here. I wish instead of replaying Obama's pastor sound clips repeatedly, the press would replay George W's statement about how we shouldn't save gas, and visuals of gas prices BEFORE the war.
Bashing the 'elite' 6:21pm on 06 May 2008 I have yet to see Hillary or McCain discuss what is actually necessary to have a gas tax holiday--where is the bill with her name on it before Congress?, where it would get messed with and many people would have their hands out, it would need to be passed by both houses and then W would have to sign it - all in the future, hey the actual election is in November, then she can blame Congress for not getting it done (like W) when she is in Congress. Then there are all the administrative costs to the government, write rules, ask for comment, divert staff to administer, etc. etc. etc. It is one of the stupidest ideas ever and anyone who thinks this will make a difference in their lives is really stupid as well. I am heartily offended at the campaigns assumption of voter stupidity on this issue and the media keeps hyping it as being "for the little guy" baloney.
Republicans for Hillary 10:01pm on 05 May 2008 I am a 58 year old white woman from Indiana, definitely NOT smitten with Hillary. I often vote Republican, sometimes Democrat, depending on the candidate. I registered as a Democrat to vote for Obama. Hillary is a dinosaur, much like McCain, as much as I admire his personal sacrifice. If Hillary is the candidate, I can't vote for her, nor McCain--I would vote for Ron Paul. I teach and Obama is the face of most of the children--they don't care about race, many of their parents stuck in the past do. Those voters who like McCain and Hillary are stuck too, they don't want new jobs, they want their old jobs back, they want everyone to look like them and think like them, just like it used to be--which it will never be again. I am tired of everyone catering to those with the least education, instead of inspiring--which Obama does. No one ever brings up the fact that the gas tax holiday would have to be voted on by Congress and approved by Bush and would also have massive administrative costs. How idiotic and would just line the pockets of the oil companies.
