Indeed, China may not get there in this generation, but Britian will never be able to get there again unless the disappearance of this universal. China has the ambitions to be most powerful country, this is a good thing, you will never reach there if you don't even have the ambitions.

China has no tradition of invading other countries in its long history. If you learn a little Chinese history, you should know that.
Chinese charm 2:30pm on 06 Feb 2009 When hard-power is not easy (and harmful to itself) to contain, containing China's soft power problably is the only way to do.

The poll proved Western media&government has been successfully at that front. Well done James!

But China should not care too much how the West look at China, just do what's good to the country and its people. One day when how China look at the West will be consdiered by the Western government/media, then they will change their views on China auomatically.

I found the logic is so funny : Barroso said it was "completely natural" to want to meet the Dalai Lama and that he had no reason to criticise Sarkozy."He has the right to meet whoever he wants," .

Of course he has right to meet whoever he wants, but China has the right NOT to meet EU leaders and cancel the summit right? What a strange logic he has!

But if he has been a spy againist China for a long time, and caused serious damage, it might be justified - potentially his action will cause thousands of or even more Chinese soldiers to die in a war and China to lose a war.

I agree executing a criminal or not is not dependant on his foreign connections, China should even execute foreign criminals if they committed serious crimes in China.

China is the crossroad, being a superpower or being beaten by the West again and back to 19th century ...

None around me thought it is a national tragedy, maybe there are a few in 1.3 billion people thought this way, and brilliaint BBC/James as usual chose those as representative.

This exactly shows how the West media bias againist China, selective reporting for its own hiding purposes, in the face of free press.

Some sports are not popular in China, it is hard to image people will not buy tickets to watch what they are not interested.

I can image there will be plenty empty seats in Table Tennis/Basketball games in London 2012. but those two sports are immensely popular in china and hard to buy tickets.

The successful Beijing Olympic is finished at last, Beijing Olympic as a hostage has been release without paying anything. Now it is London's turn, all the best to London.

New story for China? 4:29pm on 22 Aug 2008 As far as I am concerned, apart from Beijing being built into a more modern city, nothing will change.

(1) Some people/politicians/governments will still try as hard as possible to keep China down.

(2) Most West media(like BBC/James) will still try as hard as possible to destroy China's reputation.

(3) Some people/politicians/governments in the West will still try as hard as possible to divide China - Tibet is just the starting point.
China's Olympic highlights 8:21pm on 21 Aug 2008 (1) Anti-China protesters successful held a few protests.
(2) James managed to cover all protests in the scene.
(3) Chinese in China knew those protests too, and restrained from too impolite to those people.
(4) USA has been beaten at least(in sports, not in military/economy, yet...)

China 'moves on' from Liu Xiang 6:15pm on 19 Aug 2008 I like Lin Dan's celebration. He thrown his shoes into crowd, heard one man is trying to pay 100,000RMB(8000 Pounds) to buy another one so he can have one pair.

He lost in the first around in 2004, it was a shock to everyone who knew a little about badminton - he was world number one even then. He won the Gold easily this time, and proved himself undoubtedful world number one, in front his home supporters, and his pretty girlfriend.

Liu Xiang is still a hero, he made right decision to pull out, no need to risk his career. China has got enough Gold to beat USA anyway :-)
