Who are the Government to point fingers? It was worse than a complete lack of leadership, their policies actively encouraged it.

Should the Bank of England buy shares? 5:18pm on 12 Mar 2009 How about setting up a Government bank that rewards saving with a decent rate of interest?

We could save, withdraw the interest, and spend it prudently.

We might even begin to re-establish a saving culture. Mmmm, there's the problem, the Government don't want that.

Debt, debt and more debt, if you don't have debt we cannot control you.

What do they intend to return us to, what are their aspirations?

The media need to press this issue; the Government should be made to state some clear objectives that are measurable and accountable.

Well unless the BoE decide to prop up the market. Surely there will be those that milk the system. So yet again the 'financial intuitions' win at the expense of the taxpayer, irrespective of the potential 'long-term' gains.

What is recovery? There's no way we can plan to get there unless we know where 'there' is.

As such, we should be able to ask the Government for their vision of ther future...

Either they have one and don't want to tell us (it's only our money they're spending after all), or they don't have a vision (again it's only our money they're spending after all).

So what is their vision for mortgage lending...

I've read and heard alot of contradiction.

How much is it all going to cost? 3:01pm on 09 Mar 2009 Irrespective of the quantitative financial cost, the bailouts will break Great Britain.

The bailouts will eventually prop up the price of a family home, such that both mothers and fathers have to work full time to provide a domicile, as opposed to a loving family home.

Furthermore, our children will be taxed for their lifetime, to pay for the bailouts that result in an unnecessary mortgage burden.

This teaches us and our children that debt is the only option and yet we are still blamed for reckless borrowing.

Finally it is not worth saving, as this will only put you at a disadvantage when you come to retire.

Fixing banks' boards 10:47pm on 08 Feb 2009 On the news tonight I heard Ali D blame the banks out right for the financial crisis.

Still no questions on how the regulations allowed the situation to arise, or questions on the lack of leadership when it was obvious that the level of debt was unsustainable.

When will the journalist grow some and start exposing all those that contributed to the mess that we are all paying for.

Its is your duty to make them accountable.
We've lent £185bn to banks 1:47pm on 03 Feb 2009 "But it shows you quite how serious it was that the commercial market for mortgage-backed securities had collapsed and quite how desperate the banks were to raise cash."

... It also shows just how much pressure will be placed on sustaining an overpriced housing market.
