Edge gets to the gaming point 4:41pm on 11 Jun 2008 Why should games evolve?
Why change the gameplay that is proven to be fun.
Halo 1 was fun, Halo 2 is fun, Halo 3 is fun - no massive evolution really. Same idea "run around levels shooting things"

i agree. My pc is connected to a 50" hd tv via hdmi. Anything i can watch on my pc can be displayed on the tv.

The problem at the moment is that no web based tv services offer equivalent quality to blu ray or even dvd. iPlayer, joost, itv, 4od are all inferior to the quality of even freeview
Web-to-TV revolution 10:57am on 22 May 2008 A lot of well informed comments on this blog. Right now the tv and film companies seem very cautious of selling Video on Demand. Unfortunately most of the services are very much limited to the North American market.

At the moment every one of these devices is inferior to a good home theatre pc or xbox 360 streaming. A decent htpc doesnt cost a lot more than some of the devices mentioned and a htpc can be fitted with a blu ray drive, bigger hard drive, high definition graphics card as you need it.
DRM is dead, long live DRM 7:58pm on 20 May 2008 I agree that Drm will continue to exist on some music services. However consumers do not want drm in any form - drm always seems to bring excessive limitations. Also, it appears impossible to create any drm which cannot be circumvented. The protections on hd-dvd and blu ray were both bypassed within months. The 'formidable' hdcp can also be bypassed theoretically by converting the signal to vga and of course at the end of the day if an analogue signal is output it can be copied. Sound waves and tv images cannot be protected by drm!

In my opinion cd albums are definitely still the best way to access music. They may be slower to get than downloads etc. but they offer you a physical copy, greater sound quality than 99% of downloads and the ability to rip to mp3 and listen to on any device. Obviously record companies must prefer selling low quality drm'd downloads because that way they can sell us the same songs more than once ie once to play on an ipod, then charge you again to play it on your nokia mobile.

Apple are incredibly good at building brand loyalty and awareness etc. The amount of hype and discussion the iPhone has had is amazing.

i think it will be interesting to see the percentage of sales on each platform. I guess it will actually sell better on the 360 due to xbox live and the downloadable content microsoft have secured.
Who's top of the tech chart? 11:30am on 26 Apr 2008 The Nintendo wii is a novelty scam. I owned one and it got boring pretty quickly. The xbox 360 is now cheaper than the wii, and the quality of games on the 360 is incredible compared to the wii. Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, GTA IV currently the best games.
Apple will keep growing until Microsoft can make Vista mainstream. XP is too good at what it does to bother upgrading, currently Dx10 is the only real reason to go for vista.
