Did McCain do enough? 07:18am on 16 Oct 2008 McCain did enough for sure, enough damage to his campaign to almost surely scuttle it onto the rocks of history. The last thing he should have done was to act like a typical mud slinging politician, which he apparently is. Going heavy on the negative and light on content, McCain showed his true old school Republican roots.

The whole world is in the midst of an unprecedented economic crisis and the best he could do was indulge himself in the usual finger pointing about who's pork barrel is the biggest, with accusations about a moth bitten 1960's bomb throwing hippie tossed in for good measure. Well, on the bright side, Sara and John can always fall back on their day jobs. At least they still have jobs!
How McCain wins 11:38pm on 09 Oct 2008 Sara Palin is McCain's Achilles heal. She is extremely empty but tries to make up for it by being ultra judgmental. By the very act of selecting Palin for VP, McCain has trivialized himself beyond repair. He actually has now found himself in the roll of celebrity maker. And has created the very "Paris Hilton/Brittany Spears" type persona that he supposedly so distains and tried to portray Obama as being.

To make matters worse, those huge crowds Sara Palin is drawing are for the most part only there to ogle at the latest big celebrity and couldn't care less about politics. I wouldn't be surprised if at least half the crowds she is getting aren't even registered voters.

The Gerald Warner piece was of interest though. I find it interesting that so many commentators consider this political action of "no action" to be an act of rebellion against a lame duck president and the two presidential candidates.

It's really just a mater of dollars and cents. The American tax payers do not want their representatives in Washington to buy a bad mortgage for dollars when it is only worth cents. It's just bad business practice, simple as that. We'll never, never see a return on this money and here is why: Due to the transfer of so many American jobs to foreign countries, Americans no longer have sufficient income to pay premium prices for homes. We just can't sustain home price increases on our dwindling income.

If and when the job loss pendulum swings back our way it will still take a decade or more to get the medium income back up to the point where people can afford to by these homes.

Henry Ford paid his workers outrageous salaries for the time in the hopes that they would buy the cars they were making, and it worked.

The big business magnets of our time have lost sight of this simple but effective principle and therefore have diminished the purchasing power of their best markets and we the American people know this beyond measure. That's why we do not want to spend top dollar on homes that are now and for the foreseeable future worth cents on the dollar.
Mind-boggling contempt for Bush 07:21am on 26 Sep 2008 At this point I would have to say that Bush is a non entity and not even worth talking about. Soon it will become clearly evident the true nature of this economic and human disaster which is now staring the world in the face. This so called Global Economy has at this point in time turned into a Global Disaster. We are now at the end game of Raganomics and the unbridled greed it fostered, it's not going to be a pretty picture for anyone on this planet.

Soon this New World Order of George Bush seniors' dream will turn into the Old World Nightmare of the turn of the century. They had the dustbowl, we have global warming. They had the stock market crash of 1929, we have the market meltdown of 2008. They had Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, World War II and the Holocaust. And all to soon I fear this world and all it's people will experience much, much worse.

New economic and military alliances are already taking shape. There is a huge power vacuum already beginning to form. Nations will rush headlong into this power void, some willingly and some not. Soon the wars will begin.
Nailing a sneezing maverick 05:19am on 25 Sep 2008 Maverick is just another term for erratic or unpredictable of which McCain is all of the above. I mean like what an emotional drama queen. Next thing you know he'll start screaming that "Charlie" is in the "wire" and start sleeping in a pup tent with a hatchet.

The last thing we need is to have him running around the halls of congress stirring everybody up as they are trying to hammer out a deal to save the "new world economy". What's he going to pull next? Who knows, maybe he will threaten to suspend the November elections!
Should McCain have picked Romney? 11:30pm on 22 Sep 2008 Yes, Romney would have been a much better choice with regards to strengthening the voter confidence in the republican's ability to handle the recent economic crisis. Though, quite frankly, not by much when one considers the republican's abysmal economic record stretching as far back as George Bush senior's administration. And as far as the economic giveaway to China via the astronomical trade deficit between the to nations and the policies that led us there, sorry, Mitt Romney is right in there with the rest of big business.
Disappointment? 07:27am on 05 Sep 2008 McCain managed to get through his tired well worn old stump speech with out falling of the stage or breaking the microphone. So in a sense I supposed he enjoyed some measure of success tonight. But quite frankly, he has been overshadowed by his running mate who has only been governor of Alaska slightly longer than John McCain has been campaigning for president. At this point it seems that McCain vs. Obama will be a gross mismatch, somewhat like lets say Bambi vs. Godzilla.
Palin's punches 07:19am on 04 Sep 2008 She did McCain's speech writers proud and that's about it. No where near a Hilary Clinton caliber performance. Some red meat as they say, most of which will be ground up in Joe Biden's meat grinder and turned into well done moose burgers.

Palin's "Green Acres" stick will not cut it in these very real and very difficult times. With this VP pick McCain has found himself at the bottom of the class yet again.
A handshake too far? 02:36am on 29 Jul 2008 When Mr. Obama was in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the primaries. He happened upon my wife who was walking to the auditorium to hear him speak. She was thrilled to see him in person and gave him a warm greeting in Spanish, which he then thanked her for in Spanish. He then gave her a rather spontaneous and heartfelt hug. That wasn't very presidential either, it was just something people do.

To blazes with presidential protocol! I want a real human being in the Whitehouse who worries more about doing good for his countrymen rather than looking good for the empty minded, well starched, critics of the world.

As Alfred Adler once wrote and I quote: "It is easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them", end quote.

The way true patriots fight for their principles is by the very act of living up to them, spontaneously and without worry of what others may think.

I truly believe that Mr. Obama is just that sort of fellow. And I have a feeling that there are at least a couple of bobbies on duty at 10 Downing street who have a similar feeling about it.
Obama in Berlin 00:26am on 25 Jul 2008 There is certainly a "world death penalty" we will all have to face if we do not start working together as one people living on one planet. And I firmly believe that Mr. Obama is the only candidate who truly appreciates this undeniable fact.
