Talking drink 2:49pm on 26 Nov 2009 and now of course we have labour in Scotland setting up yet another commission the cost of which is to be paid by the public again and Mr Gray announces he already knows the outcome of it before they have even decided who gets to rip us off this time.
what's wasting a couple of £ million between PALS.

As far as New labour is concerned in Scotland :
BIG business is now far more important than ,starving weans,the trashing of Scottish culture and society and tackling one of the biggest health disasters to hit our country. to name but a few!

Talking drink 12:55pm on 26 Nov 2009 afternoon, more proof if it was ever needed. business and profit are further up the importance league than Scottish people's health and Scottish culture and society as far as the Labour party in Scotland are concerned.

all off-sales licences should be rescinded and a system not unlike those of Canada & Finland should be implemented.

doing so would kill umpteen birds with one stone.
if these new off -sales were government owned and run
the number of "off-sales" could be significantly reduced
the control of "price" would be easier
the control of who gets served would be easier
the profit made could be invested in health care /support
the use of the existing laws could be implemented a hell of a lot more than they have ever been.
If they only sold booze there would be no need or reason for anyone under 18 to be anywhere near them !
just a thought , shoot me down if you like!
Fact - we need to do something , doing what labour ,tory's and lib-dems are doing - nothing) is not an option.
IMHO we are already too late for this generation ,don't miss the chance for the next one!

you will find out just how good as the day progresses. most of us can see how excellent they really are, BUT, how will the likes of RE respond or will they respond at all???

Getting on with it 2:52pm on 25 Nov 2009 I gave up counting the number of misleading statements, pure spin, and downright untruths that were included in the statement given to Westminster this afternoon in between sneering at the 5 or 6 of THEM! and most of us getting a wee mention from Mr Mundell.
What is more important however is all the things that were not Said like what powers they were going to snatch back!!!

Getting on with it 2:05pm on 25 Nov 2009 As i said in the previous thread the calman report was set up to fail . not one of the recommendations will be easily implemented, today's statement conveniently did not state what powers they wanted back .
I am sorry Brian but today's title should be JAM TOMMOROW
To promise to implement the majority of calman's shambles of a report ,but only if we win the next election is both FANTACY and ARROGANCE all rolled into 1.
Mr Murphy's performance in parliament was pathetic, as was the performance of all the backbenchers -spineless the lot of them
Bottom line- England cannot allow Scotland to go there own way

it has nothing to do with politics , it has to do with being a decent human being full stop!

you have 3 months to live = a doctor or specialist's best estimate using all the experience they have as well as how they think the patient is personally dealing with what is happening to them.

every cancer is different,how every patient reacts to the cancer and how they react to any treatment is as an individual. there are no standard cases!

the other part of this has to do with the patients state of mind . They will either give it all they have got and fight tooth and nail to stay alive or they will throw in the towel and allow the doctors statement to become a self fulfilling prophecy.

As someone who is fighting tooth and nail to stay alive your #96 post is an absolute disgrace and simply confirms my thoughts about the kind of person you actually are.

Coming home 09:31am on 25 Nov 2009 BBC Scotland's most used words - might,maybe,could be, possibly .
It's amazing what you can promise when you know it will never happen when you are in power!
whilst full fiscal autonomy is my preferred option I am sensible enough to accept that it will not happen ,simply because ,the United Kingdom or more accurately England cannot afford to "allow" Scotland even a sniff of full fiscal autonomy never mind Independence

the calman commission is but an absolute shambles, every single recommendation has been set up to be as difficult to implement as possible.

just like BBC Alba it was set up to fail!

Coming home 4:22pm on 24 Nov 2009 interesting that Brian's colleagues are making a big play on the drop of American visitors during the year of homecoming, whilst conveniently forgetting that the recession started in the USA and is worldwide .
(that is of course the gospel truth cos the great one uttered it.)
oh and the European visitors and the British visitors went up but whisper that bit guy's!

could I suggest the number of visitors from the USA dropped after the great Mr Glenn (outrage)Campbell visited them and put them off!

would you visit a country if everyone was just like Glenn???

no nor would I!
