Is it time for the PM to speak out? 09:57am on 25 Aug 2009 Time will tell if this was the Scottish Governments "finest hour", if not it certainly was their bravest. I am proud of Kenny MacAskill and the SNP in ultimately making the right decision, in the full awareness of the political maelstrom that would invetiably follow. Now that takes "guts" something that is obviously lacking in our PM,Gordon Brown.
Nationalists need new narrative 12:33pm on 30 Mar 2009 Let's face it nobody really knows how Scotland would have weathered the financial crisis if it had been independent.

However what is really disgusting is watching Iain Gray and his "Scottish"??? Labour cronies gleefully watching the demise of yet another Scottish financial institution.

It's so obvious that lack of financial scrutiny by Gordon Brown's brainchild, the FSA is fundamentally at the root of the UK's banking problems. The blame for this crisis will be laid at Labours door.
Off the ball? 2:45pm on 12 Nov 2008 Its all a bit ironic that our "Scottish" secretary and our "Scottish" PM's plans for a "British" olympic football team could potentially jepordise Scotland's status in FIFA as an independent footballing nation.

Perhap's this is Brown's plan to bring his fellow Scot's to heel. Both of them should realise that "Scottish" supporters come from all sides of the political spectrum and not just from the SNP.

Go for all play off in a home international to settle it.
Constitutional caution 4:28pm on 10 Nov 2008 All institutions including the "Scottish Parliament" have to evolve, lest they stagnate and disappear.

Unfortunately, the much vaunted Calman Commission's report appears to be conservative in the extreme, with adjustments rather than fundamental changes in the remit of devolution.
Talking tax cuts 12:05pm on 10 Nov 2008 As they would say in his homeland, that's Scotland by the way. Gordon Brown "would sell his Granny" if it would get him re-elected.
Honeymoon ends 12:01pm on 07 Nov 2008 The SNP might be down but they are certainly not out, its slick electoral machine will quicky re-boot for the next challenge.

Labour played its usual negative campaign with a lack lustre candidate that was even ignorant of the remit of a Westminster MP.
Even their canvassing had to be bolstered up by parachuting in their all their MP's, MSP's trade union dinosaurs and cartloads of "English" students on polling day??

Gordon Brown can crow as much as he wants at the result, however I suspect his confidence its not strong enough to call a general election. As the recession bites it will be his bubble that will ultimately burst!!
Across the water 12:27pm on 04 Nov 2008 Whatever the outcome of the Glenrothes by election one thing is for sure, Labour can no longer take its traditional "Scottish" vote for granted.

Let's face it they did'nt have enough activists canvassing the area, they even had to resort to drafting some of them in from the North of England.

I'm sure that irony will not be lost with some voters.
Ticking the boxes 4:57pm on 06 Oct 2008 Who is kidding who, Gordon Brown is moving wee Jack (8 jobs) McConnell sideways to avoid a "double whammy" by election defeat.
Calling time 2:53pm on 02 Oct 2008 When it comes to responsibly enjoying alcohol adults and parents should set an positive example to the young.

I would suggest that most of the current alcohol related trouble with is more fundamentally associated with poverty and dis-functional family units etc, etc. It seems to be droves of drinking sub 18 year olds that roam our streets at night, with no beat policemen in sight!!

A punitive ill conceived proposal such as this will only serve to alienate the young, most of whom are responsible.

I have been generally impressed with the SNP's performance so far, however this proposal is extremely heavy handed and deserves to be voted down.
The lipstick strategy 2:25pm on 22 Sep 2008 Is that really the best that Iain Gray and his cronies can manage.

We have had the "tartan tory" guff time and again. I'm afraid it wont really wash with the electorate any more, lets face it Nu Labour has been an imitation of "thatcherisim" and we have had a generation of it.

Even Tony Blair confessed to admiring her and good old GB is thinking about giving the poor old sod a state funeral.

Bring on the Glenrothes by election.
